Scorn: Release Date, Trailer, and Everything We Know So Far

Dark Seed was a unique title back in the day, primarily because it was one of the few original games to feature the design work of H.R. Giger, which made it all the more interesting. Now, it appears that another game is preparing to carry on that slightly disgusting tradition in its own right. Featuring the biomechanical art style for which H.R. Giger is renowned, as well as an incredibly immersive gameplay design in Scorn, this atmospheric first-person horror game is sure to please.

If you've been itching for a new way to scare yourself, it appears that this year might actually be the year for you. If you're interested in learning more about the game, take a look at the information we've compiled on it below.

Scorn Release Date

Scorn

Scorn was first announced as a two-part release in 2014, with the first half being titled Daseign, which is a german word that literally translates as “being there.” The second half of Scorn was announced as a two-part release in 2015. A single release was planned for the game, rather than the unusual two-part system that had been implemented following an initially unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign, some private funding, and then another significantly more successful Kickstarter campaign.

Despite the fact that the game was originally scheduled to be released in the autumn of 2021, it has been delayed for an unknown reason. The game's updated release date was originally announced as 2022 in a note to the press, but it was recently confirmed as October 2022 on the game's official Steam page, among other places.

Scorn Trailer & What We Know So Far

Several factors have contributed to the developers' decision to remain tight-lipped about the game's setting. In the first place, the central theme of the game is being thrust out into the world with little to no knowledge of what is going on around you. As a way of making that feeling more real, certain aspects of the world have been purposefully left vague. On top of that, the in-game world in question is intended to be a character in and of itself, which makes a lot of sense given that it basically appears to be a giant, gross, living machine.

Scorn

We've seen a lot of gameplay in this game so far, and most of it has revolved around exploring the disgusting place you've been trapped in and solving puzzles. The fact that all of the character's movements are incredibly realistic by design is worth mentioning as well. When you pick up and hold an item, you will see your character's hands moving to pick it up and hold it, rather than the item floating vaguely in front of you when you do so. Apparently, this is done to make the game more immersive, and thus scarier.

We won't know how well this will all work out until October, so we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, if you think you're up to it, you can watch the trailer of the game below.
