Miri prepares for the sporting event at her day-care. Rei sneaks onto the field the night before for an unknown reason. Rei surprises Kazuki by preparing rice balls to take along with the lunch he prepared. Rei finds a good location to observe Miri by booby-trapping it with razor wire at the daycare. Rei has a personal witness to Kazuki's popularity with other parents and the fact that the majority of the moms have affection for both of them. They stopped for lunch after the morning's activities. The kids love Rei's rice balls because he stuffs them with sweets and snacks.
During the run, Miri, who trained for Rei, finds himself cheering for her; however, Miri trips and finishes last, for which Rei blames himself.
