Zendaya Wins Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Series for Euphoria!

Our sincere felicitations go out to the new finest actress in a drama series.

On Tuesday night at the 2023 Golden Globes, Zendaya won the award for best actress in a television drama series for her performance in Euphoria, beating out Emma D'Arcy (House of the Dragon), Laura Linney (Ozark), Imelda Staunton (The Crown), and Hilary Swank (Alaska Daily).

In spite of the show's 2019 premiere, this is Zendaya's first Golden Globe nomination and win. Work obligations prevented her from making it to the event at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Tuesday.

Jay Ellis, the event's host, and presenter, said, “Zendaya couldn't be with us tonight, so we are going to accept this award on her behalf.” “Currently, she is engaged in productive activity. The development is positive.”

However, not too long after the victory, the actress shared a heartfelt Instagram statement expressing her gratitude.

Since she couldn't be there in person, she began her post by saying, “I want to thank @goldenglobes for this great honor.” “It is an honor to be included among such an accomplished company; I have nothing but respect for my fellow nominees. I owe this success to the wonderful people who make up my Euphoria family.”

In her final remarks, she said, “The last thing I want to say is how grateful I am to everyone who has welcomed Rue into their homes. The fact that she can mean something to someone else is a blessing, and I think everyone understands how much she means to me. I really don't know what to say other than “thank you” right now; I'm speechless. Goodnight♥️.”

Zendaya plays a high school student in Euphoria whose romantic relationships and sobriety both go through ups and downs. The second season, when her character had a relapse, a violent outburst with her family, and acute withdrawal, was particularly devastating because of her portrayal.

Zendaya has been the youngest ever to win the outstanding lead actress in a drama series category after winning two consecutive primetime Emmys for the role.

The second season of Euphoria debuted in January of last year, and the show was quickly renewed for a third season the following month. “I believe it'll be great to explore the characters out of high school,” Zendaya remarked of Season 3's potential.

Telling The Hollywood Reporter in August, “I want to see what Rue looks like in her recovery path, how crazy it may seem,” she elaborated. The author adds, “But also with all the characters, in the sense that they're trying to figure out what to do with their lives after high school is over and what sort of people they want to be.”
