Vince Marcello directs The Kissing Booth 2, a 2020 American teen romantic comedy film based on a script by Marcello and Jay Arnold. The film is the second episode in the Kissing Booth trilogy and is a direct sequel to the 2018 film The Kissing Booth. Joey King, Joel Courtney, and Jacob Elordi feature in the film, which is based on Beth Reekles' books The Kissing Booth. Netflix will release the film on July 24, 2020. The film, like its predecessor, earned mostly unfavourable reviews from critics. On August 11, 2021, the third instalment was released.
The End Of Kissing Booth 1
Elle and Noah start dating in secret, both to protect Lee's feelings and because it's clearly against Elle and Lee's friendship standards. The couple almost gets discovered multiple times until they are finally caught: Lee walks in on Elle and Noah kissing and is furious. Elle and Lee reunite, but in the midst of the commotion, Elle breaks up with Noah. Lee and his new girlfriend Rachel, whom he met at the original kissing booth, attend prom with her.
Noah proclaims his love for Elle in front of everyone at prom in an act of desperation. She cries as she walks away, but not because she doesn't love him back. She's merely putting her friendship with Lee ahead of her affections for Noah at the moment.
Lee eventually recognises that rules are supposed to be broken and that all he wants is for Elle to be happy, so he gives Elle and Noah his blessing. They dash to the airport, where Noah will fly across the country to Harvard to begin his studies. They reunite there and decide to pursue a long-distance romance.
What is in the Movie?
Elle begins the film by recounting her time with Noah prior to his departure for Harvard. Her senior year begins with her peers speculating about how she and Noah will break up, heightening her anxiety because Noah has become friends with an attractive British girl named Chloe on Instagram. Lee is attempting to persuade Elle to have Marco Pea, the gorgeous new transfer student, widely known as the new “Noah Flynn,” be one of the kissers at the Charity Fair. Elle defeats Marco in the dance game, forcing him to enter the booth.
Elle's aspirations to study at the University of California, Berkeley alongside Lee clash with Noah's suggestion that she apply to Harvard (where their moms met and became friends). Elle accomplishes this without informing Lee.
Elle chats with her father about college tuition and discovers that money is a concern, so she agrees to compete in a dancing competition with a $1,000 prize for first place with Lee. Elle pays a visit to Noah in Boston, where she meets his new acquaintances and Chloe, which makes her feel nervous.
She discovers an earring beneath Noah's bed, which enrages her. She confronts Noah, who tells her that nothing has transpired between them and asks her to trust him. Lee had an accident during one of their rehearsal sessions (which is later shown to be a hoax) and asks Marco to be her dance partner, which she initially refuses but eventually accepts. Marco and Elle become closer as they spent the time together, and an affection develops between them.
Unbeknownst to Elle, Lee's relationship with Rachel is strained, since Elle is constantly accompanying them and not allowing them to spend time together. After leaving Rachel at the movies, she requests that Lee speak with Elle, which he promises to do but never does. The Halloween Dance approaches, and Lee forgets to inform Rachel that their costumes have changed (Rachel was a marshmallow, while Lee and Elle were going to be crackers making a smore), further aggravating her. Elle dances with Marco and comes close to kissing him, but she pauses when she hears the OMG girls chatting about her.
The Filming of Kissing Booth 2
Joey King, Joel Courtney, and Jacob Elordi will reprise their roles, with Vince Marcello directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jay Arnold, and Netflix distributing the film. Meganne Young, Carson White, and Molly Ringwald reprised their roles, with Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Taylor Zakhar Perez joining the group in May 2019. The principal photography for the film was completed in August 2019 in South Africa. The film will be available on Netflix on July 24, 2020.
During its first weekend, it was the most-streamed picture, with the first film coming in third. It came in second place in its second weekend, according to Forbes, and was “one of the most popular movies ever on the platform.” Netflix reported that 66 million households viewed the film in its first four weeks of availability in October 2020.
