Little Marvin created and executive produced Them, an American horror drama streaming television anthology series. Deborah Ayorinde, Ashley Thomas, Alison Pill, and Ryan Kwanten feature in the series, which aired on Amazon Prime Video on April 9, 2021, to mixed reviews and a 62 percent Rotten Tomatoes score.
What Them is All About?
Amazon handed the project a two-season order on July 28, 2018. Little Marvin, who also penned the first season’s script, was supposed to executive produce the show alongside Lena Waithe as part of their overall deals with Amazon Studios. Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, and Michael Connolly were also named executive producers, with Vertigo co-producing the series under an agreement with Sony Pictures Television. The first season is titled Them: Covenant, and it will have a limited semi-anthological framework akin to American Horror Story, with each season following a different storey with various people.
David Matthews joins the series as showrunner on April 1, 2019, as part of his newly announced overall deal with Sony Pictures Television. Under her overall agreement with Amazon Studios, Larysa Kondracki was attached to executive produce the series as well as direct multiple episodes, including the pilot, on November 19, 2019.
The Ending of Them Season 1
With knives in their hands, the priest and his servants crowd around Lucky. She keeps repeating, “I’m right here,” but then she turns to the priest and informs him that her son has died, and their similarities end there — she tells him he can no longer blind her – Lucky has finally faced her loss. “I see you,” she says as she pulls the cross from him and drops it. The priest suddenly remembers his church burning to the ground and loses his sight. He scrambles across the floor in search of his crucifix. His covenant has been breached, and his body has caught fire.
Can You Expect Them season 2?
The first season of Amazon’s new horror series Them has already received backlash for its harsh, unapologetic portrayal of Black suffering. But that won’t stop the show from returning: when it was taken up by Amazon in 2018, it was given a two-season order.
“What will remain constant is that we will take people who have traditionally been marginalised, who have never occupied the centre of the frame, and place them front and centre with their own experiences of American fear.” Every year, a new plot, a new cast of characters, but the same recurring theme.” It’s impossible to predict when Them Season 2 will air.
It took a year for production to begin after Amazon announced the show, and the full series wasn’t published until April 2021. While the coronavirus epidemic probably influenced part of that timing — and Them’s early Season 2 order suggests scripts could already be in the works — it seems safe to predict that Them won’t be back until at least 2022.
There have been few details regarding what Season 2 would be like because the return date is so undetermined (and surely long away). It’s uncertain if Deborah Ayorinde (Luke Cage, True Detective), Ashley Thomas (Top Boy), and Alison Pill (Them) will return for Season 2. (The Newsroom, Star Trek: Picard).
Marvin may follow in the footsteps of American Horror Story by recasting the show’s main characters in different roles each season, with the same demonic creatures reappearing. He could also choose to investigate not simply a different time period, but also new faces and perspectives on American terrorism.
Season 1 focused on post-World War II prejudice, but it’s unclear what Season 2 will be about. Marvin and executive producer Lena Waithe have been tight-lipped about what the second season of Them would entail, assuring only that it will be terrifying. In 2018, Marvin told The Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve always felt that dark, strange times demand dark, surreal mirrors to reveal us ourselves.” “And one of the best ways to investigate fissures in our world at this time is via the visceral and raw lens of horror.”
