Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is an American television series based on the Marvel Comics organisation S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division), a peacekeeping and spy agency in a world of superheroes, created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen for ABC.
The series was the first to be placed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and it recognises the films and subsequent television shows in the franchise's continuity. The showrunners were Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell, and it was produced by ABC Studios, Marvel Television, and Mutant Enemy Productions.
What The Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is all About?
The first season follows Phil Coulson, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, as he assembles a small team of agents to tackle unusual new cases. They look into Project Centipede and its commander, “The Clairvoyant,” and discover that the group is sponsored by Hydra, a terrorist organisation that has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. Following the devastation of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Coulson takes over as head of the organisation and is charged with rebuilding it while dealing with Hydra, an anti-superhuman S.H.I.E.L.D. faction, and a newly revealed superhuman species known as the Inhumans.
During the third season, Coulson embarks on a covert mission to recruit the Secret Warriors, a group of Inhumans, while Hydra restores the power of its old Inhuman commander Hive. With the signing of the Sokovia Accords, S.H.I.E.L.D. is re-established as a legal organisation after defeating Hive and Hydra. Coulson returns to becoming a field agent in the fourth season so that S.H.I.E.L.D. may have a public leader, and he is entrusted with tracking down more augmented humans, including Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider. In addition, Agent Leo Fitz and Holden Radcliffe finish their work on the virtual reality projects Life Model Decoy and Framework.
In the fifth season, Coulson and his crew are kidnapped and sent to the space station Lighthouse in the year 2091, where they must save the last of mankind while finding out how to go back home. Coulson and his crew return to the present, where they are designated fugitives, and attempt to avert the future they seen. They beat a Gravitonium-powered Glenn Talbot, but Coulson dies as a result of his previous season's encounters with Ghost Rider.
As the sixth season begins, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents split into two groups: one goes to space to rescue Fitz, who went missing after the previous season's time-traveling, while the other stays on Earth to confront a squad of mercenaries commanded by Sarge, who looks just like Coulson. In Season 7, the team, which includes a Life Model Decoy of Coulson, travels across time to prevent the Chronicoms from establishing Earth as their new home, Chronyca-3, and erasing S.H.I.E.L.D. from history.
Fate Of agents of shield season 8?
The Marvel and ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is coming to an end with Season 7, with the final two episodes airing on Wednesday, August 12. The show's termination follows years of low ratings and predictions from industry experts that the show would be cancelled.
However, it appears that Marvel is ultimately to blame for the cancellation of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. After Netflix unexpectedly cancelled all of its Marvel TV series in order to allegedly save money on the exorbitant licence costs it was purportedly paying the comic book business, a desire arose to ensure that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could wrap out the tale on its own terms.
The programme, on the other hand, had been in difficulty before to then. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the program's licence prices had to be cut in order for ABC to take it up in Season 5, and the show was still receiving low ratings in Season 6, with only 4 million people viewing each episode in the United States every week, according to Nielsen.
Although it is disappointing to know that there will not be a season 8, don't get disheartened because you can read and watch more amazing shows, series and movies here, so keep exploring.
