Netflix's Sherlock Holmes fantasy horror spin-off series The Irregulars was a huge hit. The first season of the program soon rose to the top of the US and UK rankings, and at the end of April, it even beat out Disney Plus' The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in Nielsen's US streaming charts.

Let's Take You Through the Episodes
Episodes 1
The Irregulars, a gang of four teens who live in a cellar off the streets of London, are introduced in this episode: Jessie, who has reoccurring nightmares; Beatrice, her elder sister and the group's leader; Billy, a fighter; and Spike, a smart person who can network with individuals throughout the city. Jessie is nearly killed by a horse carriage carrying Leopold, Queen Victoria's youngest son, who wanted to get out of Buckingham Palace for his birthday wish.
Episode 2
Bea is caught stealing jewels on the street. Watson bails her out and assigns The Irregulars to a new paranormal case involving three victims whose full sets of teeth had been taken by a tooth fairy. Bea and Jess go to an abandoned dental to investigate and discover a lady inside. The victims and their relatives were interviewed by Billy and Leo. Spike enters 221B in order to learn more about Watson. Leo tells Billy that he has haemophilia, which gives him agony and makes him self-conscious.
Episode 3
When the leader of the Golden Dawn (an esoteric sect) is murdered and his body is arranged like a tarot card, Mycroft Holmes hires the Irregulars to track down the killer. When they meet up with the other members and additional dead are discovered, they are confined inside the home, where it is clear that Jessica is the target.
Episode 4
Bea and Jess are enraged at the trash left beside their mother's grave. Watson enlists the help of the Irregulars to investigate a murder committed by a guy who was killed just days ago. Bea sets out to track out Sherlock Holmes and learn more about his connection to their mother. On the murder case, Jess, Spike, and Billy go to work with an inspector.
Bea and Leo kiss each other. Jess inadvertently touches a man on the street and learns that he was involved in a group rape of a girl named Clara, in which they got her intoxicated, drugged her, and then raped her at the local bar.
Episode 5
Bea interrogates Sherlock about her mother, and he informs her about investigations he and Watson performed with Bea and Jessie's mother, Alice, 15 years ago. Leo is afraid about exposing his haemophilia by allowing Bea to witness his wound from the castle crumbling.
Jessie's nightmares continue as the Linen Man informs her that he is travelling to London to personally meet her and assist her. Billy runs across a man from their days in the workhouse who used to beat and mistreat them as children.
Episode 6
Bea and Leo go to a medical ward where individuals with completely healed wounds have had body parts taken. Bea immediately recalls the Collector, a 15-year-old case that Sherlock never solved, and attempts to persuade the Irregulars that he/she is back now that the tear has reopened. Spike and Leo beg Jess to venture further into her nightmare in order to uncover the rip, but she refuses and walks away. Billy tells Bea about his parents' storey that the workhouse master told him.
Why The Irregulars Discontinued ?
It's difficult to pinpoint a single reason for The Irregulars' discontinuation. The program featured a few storyline and action errors, but its youthful cast and fresh take on the Sherlock legend made for an entertaining watch, according to our review. Many fans and commentators appear to have agreed with those feelings as well.
On the analytics website Rotten Tomatoes, The Irregulars season one now has a 78 percent acceptance rating from critics, but that number reduces to 55 percent when audience review ratings are taken into account. Take to social media and search for ‘The Irregulars,' and you'll find a similar mix of folks who loved the program and those who thought it was terrible.
Of course, Rotten Tomatoes and social media evaluations and comments account for a minor portion of a show's critical response. As a result, it's difficult to say if Netflix cancelled The Irregulars just on these numbers. After all, the series remained at the top of the Top 10 most popular shows lists in the United States and the United Kingdom for about two weeks after its premiere, indicating that there was certainly a demand for it.
Having said that, it's not unheard of for Netflix to end a show after one season. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is perhaps the most egregious example of this, with Netflix cancelling the prequel series to the 1982 film after only one season. Given the fantasy series' tremendous praise, fans and reviewers were taken aback by the streamer's decision to discontinue it after only one season.
Netflix will have its reasons, but the cancellation of Age of Resistance has yet to be publicly acknowledged by the company.
That will almost probably be the case in this case as well. It's quite doubtful that we'll learn why The Irregulars were dropped after just one episode, and fans will speculate for the next several days and weeks.
Wrapping Up
According to rumours, the series will be shot in the United Kingdom. Filming took place at Dorfold Hall near Nantwich in early December 2019. In late 2019 and early 2020, filming took place in Liverpool and the Wirral, with sites including St George's Plateau, the palm house in Sefton Park, Falkner Street in the Georgian Quarter, and the Grand Entrance at Birkenhead Park.
