In November 2021, the couple issued their statement on their separate Instagram Stories, claiming that their split was amicable.
“Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever,” the former Fifth Harmony member and “Stitches” artist said. “We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends.”
Shawn and Camila later spoke openly about their traumatic divorce. Shawn revealed in an Instagram video that he had to deal with the effects of their separation.
“Like, who should I call while I'm having a panic attack? “Who do I call when I'm f**king on edge?” Shawn made a point. “I think that's the reality that kind of hit me — it's like, ‘Oh, I'm on my own now.'”

“My priorities have fluctuated and my focus has changed throughout my life,” Camila stated in 2022. “I think as I get older, my priorities evolve. And I believe that was true for both of us. The former couple did, however, reconnect temporarily in early 2023. They were seen getting close at Coachella in April 2023 before hanging out together. However, they divorced permanently shortly after.
