In 1991, at a gay bar in Milwaukee, Tony Hughes was introduced to a serial killer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer. This pub was frequented by serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who would meet his victims there and then entice them to his flat with the promise of sexual encounters. According to the Netflix show and other accounts, Tony agreed to reunite with serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
When Tony entered Jeffrey Dahmer's flat, Dahmer drugged him and then strangled him to death. The rest of Tony's body was allegedly dissolved in acid, and Dahmer saved the head.
What Was Going on Between Tony Hughes and Dahmer?
There is no evidence to support Netflix‘s portrayal of a love relationship between Jeffrey Dahmer and Tony prior to the murder. A recent report claims that Tony's mother said he had a new job two weeks before his death, and that he had told her his boss's name was Jeffrey.
Following his conviction, Jeffrey Dahmer was given 16 consecutive life sentences in jail the following year. Eventually, in 1994, fellow convict Christopher Scarver would end his life by shooting him.

Between 1978 and 1991, Dahmer, who was known as the “Milwaukee Monster,” killed at least 17 young men and boys.
He even ate some of them and kept parts of their bodies as souvenirs, like skulls and genitalia.

What Caused Tony Hughes's Demise?
Dahmer allegedly invited Hughes back to his apartment after their chance encounter at a pub, and Hughes agreed to accompany him. The Associated Press said that the killer drugged Hughes' drinks and then dissected his body after he passed out, keeping Hughes' skull as a memento.
The day Hughes went missing, May 31, 1991, a report was filed. According to FBI records, Hughes's mother was informed of her son's death on July 5, 1991, when his bones were discovered in Dahmer's apartment and identified using his dental records.

On September 21, 2022, Netflix took down Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, a limited biographical crime drama series starring Evan Peters.
