She became interested in music when she was nine years old, after seeing a performance at the Grand Ole Opry with her family. “I just remember looking up there and thinking, ‘Man, I wanna do that,'” she explained to The Boot.
Lainey worked a variety of music-related professions before breaking out, including playing in a cover band and impersonating Hannah Montana, the Disney character popularized by Miley Cyrus.
It wasn't until her sophomore album, Tougher, topped the Billboard Top Country Albums list in 2016, that she began to get traction in the music industry.
She signed a recording contract with BBR Music Group two years later. Lainey also dabbled in acting in 2022, making her debut in the Western drama Yellowstone.

Football fans may recognize Devlin as a former quarterback at Alabama's Samford University who was later signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019.
In September 2021, he joined the Ottawa Redblacks, however, the organization confirmed Devlin's retirement from professional football less than a year later, in April 2022.
Devlin now works for Mossy Oak Properties in Louisiana, where he sells real estate. Devlin is well-known for his duck-calling abilities in addition to his football abilities.
He won the Alabama State Duck Calling Championship in 2018. However, this is not how he got the moniker “Duck.”
When Did Lainey and Duck Start Dating?
The couple started dating in 2021 but didn't make their romance public until two years later. Lainey attended the 2023 Academy of Country Music Awards with former NFL quarterback Devlin ‘Duck' Hodges in May 2023.
She later revealed on The Bobby Bones Show that they have been seeing each other for nearly two years.
Lainey kept her love life private before going public with Hodges, although she did reveal that she was previously in a long-term relationship with her high school sweetheart for seven years.
“He was the only thing I had ever known,” the singer said in an interview with People.
How Did Lainey Wilson and Devlin Hodges Meet?
Lainey and Devlin met through mutual friends in Nashville and had their first date at “this old place called Silverados,” according to People.
“It had free beer and wine from 5 to 10 p.m.,” she went on to say. “I was like, ‘This boy also likes to ball on a budget.'” ‘This is going to work out.'”
Devlin is now content to support his girlfriend's budding country music career. “Duck is the kind of dude who high-fives me on the way in the door and on the way out and says, ‘Go get it,'” she said. “He knows how important this dream is to me.”

“I was never really able to write love songs, because I don't know if I had actually felt it, but I'm writing me some love songs now,” Lainey remarked of Devlin's influence on her music. I appreciate him.”
The former football player has also proven to be Lainey's strongest supporter. She shows up frequently on his TikTok account. In one June 2023 video, he accompanied his girlfriend to one of her photoshoots and was captivated by her attractiveness.
