On the first journey of “Avenue 5,” series creator Armando Iannucci brings viewers into his recreated universe, set 40 years in the future. Although it will be another four decades before anybody can thank Iannucci for his predictions, the amusing HBO comedy leaves viewers wondering if flashy tracksuits, inept employees, and low-cost billion-dollar ships will be a part of everyone's unforeseeable future.
The second season of HBO's science fiction comedy Avenue 5 has been confirmed for a second season, however no launch date has been set. The sitcom has a novel premise: in the future, instead of vacationing on cruise ships on the ocean, people vacation on interplanetary cruise ships that fly through space. The ship is managed by a dumb billionaire (played by the hilarious Josh Gad), and it comes out that the captain (played by
Hugh Laurie) is nothing more than a showman who has no genuine expertise of how to run a cruise ship.
How Avenue Season 1 Ended?
Ryan is de-captained after a fight between Judd and Ryan. After Ryan inadvertently exposes to the passengers that he is not American and is sporting a toupee, the passengers begin to wonder if their predicament is real or if they are on a hoax reality programme.
Seven individuals, including Sarah (bridge crew) and Harrison, shoot themselves out of the airlock, believing they would return to Earth if they exit the ship via there. Meanwhile, Rav understands that her hasty choice to join a ship destined for Avenue 5 would have unfavourable consequences: she must either abandon Judd on Avenue 5 or step in for him for the duration.
Matt resolves to go into hiding for the next three and a half years, and alters the codes to access the airlocks, feeling guilty for his part in the deaths of the seven persons who ejected themselves out of the airlock. The team sets out to find him in order to carry out a plan to cut the voyage time in half by jettisoning unneeded things weighing the equivalent of 500 non-essential crew members.
Matt discloses the code 0005 to the team after being discovered at the vending machines, claiming that it would have been obvious to anybody thinking rationally but impossible for someone panicked.
However, owing to Karen's misunderstanding, the additional weight is ejected out of the portside airlocks rather than the rear airlocks as intended, causing Avenue 5's voyage time to be stretched from three and a half to eight years. Iris is unintentionally transported back to Earth early following a quarrel over the supply shuttle's sole other seat, leaving Rav onboard.

What Do We Know About Avenue Season 2?
Following the renewal of Season 2 of Avenue 5, HBO senior vice president of programming Amy Gravitt announced that the producers are working on Season 2. Armando Iannucci, the show's creator, revealed on Twitter in August 2021 that season two will begin production “in a couple of days.”
Josh Gad, who plays the lead in the show, shared a GIF of the first day of filming. Avenue 5 Season 2 is expected to launch in 2021, although nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Avenue 5 Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2021, according to speculations. For what it's worth, owing to some of the season's themes, Armando Ianucci is holding out on releasing the season until the mood is perfect. “So, we're just waiting to see what the atmosphere is in terms of how we pitch,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Is it going to be all doom and gloom, or will it be very, very silly? Or maybe it's just a case of childish despondency? I'm not sure. We attempted to make season one as ridiculous as possible, but it's somehow turned into a type of documentary on current events.”
Except for one minor character, everyone is expected to return. Himesh Patel, who portrayed a ship's comic, is likely also gone after securing a spot on a rescue ship sent to bring the ship's owner Herman Judd (Josh Gad) back to shore. Hugh Laurie, Josh Gad, Zach Woods, Rebecca Front, Suzy Nakamura, Lenora Crichlow, Andy Buckley, Jessica St. Clair, Kyle Bornheimer, Ethan Phillips, and others are also expected to return. There are a lot of people in this cast, and none of them are going anywhere.
Furthermore, because Avenue 5 is set aboard a ship with hundreds of people, Season 2 could simply introduce new characters who have been onboard the entire time. So, when HBO's series returns, don't be shocked if some fresh faces join the cast.
