During this moment, André storms the set, destroying the background, desk, and other props in his path. Stagehands quickly remove the destroyed furniture and replace it with identical pieces after the song is finished. At this point, Buress, the co-host, generally enters to lukewarm applause from the audience.
André may then deliver a monologue that mixes dark humour and surrealism. When he's having trouble performing, his monologue frequently becomes combative and angry as Buress mocks him. The show will likely consist of a combination of strange celebrity interviews and short skits, candid camera footage, and non sequiturs, with the emphasis on André's bizarre conduct in everyday situations.
Over the closing credits, a performer of some sort appears. Ending performances are usually parodies of public-access television acts, but they can also be real musicians performing their own songs with hard twists, like punk band Trash Talk performing while wearing volume-sensitive shock collars or a female opera singer performing while rapper Killer Mike serves as her hype man.
Killer Mike also made an appearance in a later episode, rapping against rapper Action Bronson on treadmills. Mac DeMarco once performed as André launched a part named “Attack DeMarco!” based on Japanese game shows, in which a swarm of samurai tormented DeMarco.
