Michael Brandt and Derek Haas created the American drama television series Chicago Fire, which is executive produced by Dick Wolf. It is the first episode of Wolf Entertainment's Chicago franchise, created by Dick Wolf. On October 10, 2012, NBC premiered the series. Gabriela Dawson and Leslie Shay, paramedics, are working alongside the firemen. In the third-season premiere, “Always,” Shay dies. As the series develops, more people arrive in the firehouse. The firehouse family, led by 25th Battalion Chief Wallace Boden, makes life-or-death decisions every day, yet they regard one another like family, looking out for one another no matter what.

Cinespace Chicago Film Studios filmed the interiors of Firehouse 51. A few streets away, at 949 West Maxwell Street and Morgan Street, is the station house used for exteriors in Chicago PD.
