Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Review
Season 2 of Vikings may disappoint action fans; that's not to suggest there aren't any clashes, but world-building is what Vikings: Valhalla values most. The three main plot lines feature protagonists who are as emotionally distant from one another as ever.
Season 2 has a lot of meaning because of the plot and the history it represents. In Season 2, Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) sets out on her own to investigate the spiritual and religious implications of her prophecy by traveling to exotic locations.
Queen Emma (Laura Berlin) and Godwin (David Oakes) navigate the throne and the security issues it brings; King Olaf finds himself at the hands of Forkbeard (Soren Pilmark); Leif (Sam Corlett) has to endure and overcome grief while finding new purpose in life; and finally, Harald has to fulfill the oath.
Season 2 of Vikings: Valhalla doesn't have a clear narrative arc. The writers have put up a fantastic script in which everyone's narrative is given equal weight and no one can afford to be a diva. Unusual though it may seem, this is an accomplishment nonetheless.
