What is the Series Vera All About?

The first series' Hidden Depths, Telling Tales, and The Crow Trap, as well as the second series' Silent Voices, are based on Ann Cleeves' novels of the same name. On Sunday, May 13, 2012, the episode Sandancers from the second series was scheduled to air. The episode was withdrawn from the schedule because the plot involved a soldier's death in Afghanistan, and it aired at the same time as news of two troops dying there.

Episode 2

When the body of addiction support worker Angela Konan is discovered concealed in the dreary forests of Northumberland National Park, Vera is summoned to the scene. As it emerges that an increasingly unpredictable Angela argued with two clients in the week before she died, Vera and her colleagues must peel back the layers of the reclusive victim's life to unearth her closely-guarded secrets and astonishing depths.

Vera will return for another four chapters next year following the first two episodes. Although fans and the press have seen glimpses of the ITV drama's film team around the North East in recent weeks and months, no details about the next episodes have been released. Despite the fact that the series was split into two, the six-episode total indicates that season 11 is Vera's longest episode ever, considering most series have just four episodes.
