Upload, an American science fiction comedy-drama television series created by Greg Daniels, is set in the future. Amazon Prime Video launched the show on May 1, 2020, and it was renewed for a second season seven days later. Read on to know everything about Upload Season 2!
Those who have been waiting for more from the hit show since 2020 will be delighted on that date when all seven episodes of the second season will be made available online.
As with many other television shows, the Upload was delayed due to the epidemic, but the fact that new episodes will be available in a few months is comforting.
The show's first season has been discontinued, so Prime Film has created a special review video (which can be found at the bottom of this post) highlighting the main characters and story moments from the first season.
A possible murder was explored in the series, which introduced us to the digital afterlife, near-future technology, and a complicated love triangle. However, we were left with more questions than answers about what happened.
What is the Release Date for Upload Season 2?
On May 8, 2020, Amazon Studios confirmed that Upload will have a second season and that it will once again be available on Prime Video in the United States.
“Greg Daniels, the show's creator, stated this. The opportunity to continue an excellent relationship with Amazon Studios and this incredible cast and learn what happens next to Nora, Nathan, and Ingrid in their 2033 world is a dream come true for me.” “Now that I've learned this, I can put my season 2 flipbook on hold.”
The second season of Upload will premiere on Amazon Prime on March 11, 2022
Following the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak on March 16, 2020, Amazon Studios halted all of its film and television projects, including its massive (and massively expensive) Lord of the Rings prequel series.
The announcement did not include a release date or a plot synopsis, which is standard practice. This was in response to the pandemic.
Production on Season 2 of Upload officially began on January 25, 2021, as confirmed by series star Robbie Amell in an Instagram post commemorating “Day 1” of filming on the show. The production wrapped up three months later, on April 15.
What is the Plot for Upload Season 2?
While creator Greg Daniels has not commented on the next chapter of Upload, it is safe to assume that the series will pick up the story where it left off in Season 1. According to Daniels' statement, the season will still occur in the year 2033, which is all we know.
Robbie Amell revealed to Comic Book Resources in September 2020 that the season may feature “more of the supporting characters” than the previous season, which was released in September 2019.
According to Amell, “I believe you'll get to see a little bit more of the supporting characters this season, which is awesome.”
The three main characters, Zainab [Johnson], Kevin [Bigley], and Allegra [Edwards], are all extraordinarily amusing and talented. My anticipation for more from them is high, and the show ended on a high note for a number of the characters, so I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.”
Based on how Season 1 ended, we can assume that Season 2 will see Nathan dealing with Nora's confession of love and Ingrid's Upload into Lakeview during the season. Nathan's afterlife will be anything but paradise because he will be torn between his girlfriend and the love of his life.
The identity of the actual perpetrator behind Nathan's “death” has also remained a mystery. The show's first season is littered with potential suspects, but who is to blame? The Season 1 finale strongly indicated that Ingrid's father ordered the hit, but many details and angles are still unknown now.
Perhaps Nathan's most recent project, completed while he was still alive, will provide a hint. Nathan was determined, before his death, to make expensive “upload” technology more accessible to the general public.
Whatever Nathan was working on would have made uploading more affordable, allowing anyone, regardless of wealth or income, to be included in the uploading process. As we saw in Upload Season 1, that technology is about to be released (without Nathan's involvement), and it has the potential to destabilize Horizen's entire operation completely.
Nathan's newfound prominence among the “Two Gigs” may also exacerbate Upload's undercurrent of class warfare. Will he be able to lead a revolution from the basement of Lakeview, where he currently resides? We'll have to wait and see what happens.
What is the Cast?
At this time, there is no information about the entire cast of Upload Season 2. Regarding the main characters from Season 1, we should expect the majority, if not all, to return for Season 2. The names of these are as follows:
- Zainab Johnson (Last Comic Standing) as Aleesha, Nora's coworker.
- Kevin Bigley (Sirens) is Luke, a former soldier and resident of Lakeview who befriends Nathan.
- Robbie Amell (The Flash) as Nathan Brown.
- Andy Allo (Chicago Fire) as Nora Antony.
- Allegra Edwards (Briarpatch) as Ingrid Kannerman.
On the other hand, one member of the cast will receive a promotion. Josh Banday, who portrays Nora and Aleesha's coworker Ivan in Season 2, has been promoted to the main form for the second season.
