Toto Wolff is an Austrian businessman and former motorsports racer who now devotes his time and resources to investment and commercial ventures.
He now serves as the CEO and Principal of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team, which he founded in 2009. Toto Wolff will have a net worth of $570 million by the year 2022.
Some Formula One fans will be surprised to learn that he is even wealthier than Lewis Hamilton, who is worth a whopping $285 million.
Early Life
Wolff was born on January 12, 1972, in the Austrian capital of Vienna. To be more precise, his real name is Torger Christian Wolff. His parents, a Polish father, and a Romanian mother, both of whom worked as physicians, reared him and his sister.
When he was eight years old, his father was admitted to the hospital with cancer. Following the discovery of his father's illness, his parents separated and divorced. During Toto's adolescent years, his father died as a result of the disease.
The fact that he was raised in the city and attended French school there despite the fact that his family was low-income is remarkable. He and his sister, it is presumed, left the school after their father was diagnosed with cancer.
Career
Torger's motorsport career began in 1992 with the Austrian Formula Ford Championship, where he finished third. In the following years (1993 to 1994), he competed in the German Formula Ford Championship.
He then went on to win a number more events. In 1994, he finished first in his class at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
In 2003, he moved to the GT Championship in Italy, where he shared a win with Lorenzo Case the following year and won another race the following year.
In the Austrian Rally Championship, he finished in second place the following year. In the same year, he was victorious in the Dubai 24 Hour race. The Nürburgring Nordschleife was his home track, and he set a lap record there in 2009 with a Porsche RSR.
Toto Wolff's Other Investments
During this time, he founded the investment companies Marchfifteen in 1998 and Marchsixteen in 2004, both of which focused their initial efforts on internet and technology-related businesses.
Among his other investments was a 49 percent stake in the German HWA AG, which he purchased in 2006 and then floated on the stock exchange the following year. BRR Rallye Racing is yet another venture into which he has put his money.
Toto was also involved in the management of various racing drivers as a co-owner of a sports management company with former Formula One driver Mika Häkkinen, which he founded.
Toto Wolff's Personal Life
Toto Wolff met and married Stephanie Wolff when they were in their twenties. They were the parents of two children. However, after a decade of marriage, the pair decided to separate.
Susie Wolff is the CEO of ROKiT Venturi Racing and he currently resides in Monaco with his wife, who is also an athlete.
She was working as a development driver for Williams at the time, which is how she met Toto. It was 2011 when they were married, and 2017 when they welcomed their first kid.
