Ubisoft's latest first-person shooter, simply titled XDefiant, was conceived in the Tom Clancy universe but has already moved on to a new setting.
Early gameplay suggests that the game will be a team-based shooter in the spirit of Call of Duty. Here's what we know thus far about the situation.
Tom Clancy's XDefiant Is Simply Titled “XDefiant”
XDefiant, the next edition in the Tom Clancy universe, was released in July 2021, following in the footsteps of the popular Rainbow Six series and other titles.
However, it has now evolved into its own distinct cosmos, with XDefiant assuming a life of its own as beta testing approaches.
As shown in early footage, while the game will remain closely related to the novelist's historical themes through the use of Clancy-inspired factions, Ubisoft has the option of setting it in a more future scenario.
A trailer for XDefiant has already been released, and the first-person shooter will soon be available for public testing. Here's all you need to know about the game.
Xdefiant Release Date
Despite the fact that XDefiant was announced on July 19, 2021, we have yet to receive any official information about when the film will be released.
Players can, however, sign up for a chance to participate in “early rollout phases” if they like.
Content creators had the opportunity to get their hands on the project just a few days before the announcement, and as we can see from the official reveal trailer, the project appears to be well underway at this point.
Early footage appeared to be of high quality, and players will be able to get a head start on the action by participating in Insider Sessions before the game officially launches.

Gameplay
We now have a good idea of what to expect from XDefiant thanks to the debut of the first trailer.
It's evident from the get-go that the game is at least partially based on the Call of Duty series. It takes only a few shots to bring down a player in a fast-paced shooter like this one.
Everyone (known as a “Defiant”) will have access to a wide variety of lethal and tactical weaponry and can customize the weapons they carry via attachments. Afterward, you'll be able to fine-tune it.
Unique talents, on the other hand, accumulate charge over time. Classes (called ‘Factions' in XDefiant) have access to a variety of abilities, from self-healing to powerful bubble shields.
Platform Support
According to the gameplay trailer, which was released on July 19, the new first-person shooter will be available for Xbox One and X|S, Playstation 4/5, PC, and even Google Stadia.
All of the early gameplay appears to have taken place in PC lobbies, as demonstrated by the on-screen inputs that can be seen throughout the intro and trailer.
It remains to be seen whether or if it will behave or seem different on each of the platforms mentioned so far.
