Vincent Lindon and Agathe Rousselle joined the cast of the film in September 2019, with Julia Ducournau directing the film from a screenplay she authored. The film will be distributed in the United States by Neon.
The principal filming for the film will begin in September 2020. Production was supposed to start in April 2020, but was postponed owing to the COVID-19 epidemic.
