Posts on social media sites like TikTok show how to use a USB cord and a screwdriver to hot wire a Kia or a Hyundai car. Tiktok is made to be fun and nothing else. TikTok has always been a trend that has come and gone over time. The car crash challenge is popular right now, so let's talk about it in this article.
Four Teenagers Were Killed Doing the Tiktok Challenge
Kia said something Thursday about an accident that killed four teenagers in Buffalo, New York, earlier this week. There were six people in the car that crashed Monday morning just before 7 a.m. Three of them died at the scene, and the fourth one died in the hospital.
They were all between 14 and 17 years old. Two others, including the driver, were also hurt. The 16-year-old driver was taken into police custody and will be charged in connection with the accident on Friday.
In their statement, Kia America says, “Kia America joins the Buffalo community in mourning the tragic crash that happened early Monday morning and involved six local teenagers. It appears that a Kia Sportage was stolen Sunday night.”

“Kia is aware of a recent trend among young people, fueled by social media, to steal certain Kia cars with steel keys and “turn-to-start” ignition systems.”In many cases, cars are stolen just so that reckless and dangerous driving can take place.
This kind of illegal behavior puts our communities at risk and goes against the rights of the vehicle owner. The Buffalo Police Department hasn't told us all the important details of its investigation yet, so we can't link this one case to this larger social trend.
Investigators from the Buffalo Police Department say they think the car that was in the accident was stolen around 8 p.m. on Sunday. Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said on Monday that he thinks the alleged robbery was related to the popular Kia Challenge TikTok trend.
Which shows thieves across the country how to steal Kias made in the last 10 years without a key and with just a USB cord. Because of this trend, police departments all over the country are getting more reports of stolen Kias.
Gramaglia said, “They're very easy to steal, which is a shame.”
“There is information out there that you can look up. Many cities across the country are looking into or have already filed lawsuits against Kia because it is so easy to steal their cars.
Kia says in their statement that they will work with local law enforcement by giving concerned “steel-key” Kia drivers free steering wheel locks as an extra safety measure.
