The application phase for the FIFA World Cup competition in Qatar, which will take place this year, is already open, with the intention of seeing a record number of people in attendance. The application period will be open through February 8th, with no priority given to applications received earlier or later in the process.
A change from the customary summer schedule has been made to accommodate the high temperatures that the host country Qatar experiences during that time. The tournament, which is perhaps the most popular athletic event on earth, will take place in the fall rather than the summer. The first games are slated to begin in November, with the championship game taking place on December 18th.
In a statement released today, FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said: “This is a FIFA World Cup for Qatar, the region, and the world, and the items presented today represent FIFA's ambition of delivering the beautiful game to as many fans across the world as possible.”
Fans will be able to learn about the region's rich culture and history through the medium of football, which will be played in world-class stadiums. “We are looking forward to bringing people from all over the world together to witness football at the FIFA World Cup,” says Blatter.
When compared to the previous FIFA World Cup, which was held in Russia in 2018, the prices of many tickets have increased. The cost of tickets for the final has increased by 46 percent when compared to the previous year's event in Russia, with prices reaching as high as 5,850 Qatari riyals ($1,607). It costs $455 to attend the finals if you are not a resident of the United States.
Alternatively, the cheapest tickets for group stage games are the cheapest available for a FIFA World Cup since 2006, costing $69, despite the fact that other category levels have increased or remained the same since 2006.
Non-Qatari citizens can apply to purchase a maximum of six tickets every match, with a total of sixty tickets available for purchase for the course of the tournament per postal address. There are other options available, including requesting tickets to individual games, following a specific team through group play, and watching four games at four separate venues.
Those who register during this initial period will find out on or after February 8 whether or not they have secured tickets, as well as which events they have acquired seats for. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis closer to the event.

More than a million ticket applications were submitted for the previous FIFA World Cup in Russia, though it's unclear how much demand there will be for a late-year event during a pandemic outbreak. The completion of the various confederation bodies' playoffs, which will take place in the early summer, will leave more than half of the 32 available spots for the tournament open at this time.
