When Will The Witcher: Blood Origin Be Released?
The Witcher: Blood Origin will be released on Netflix starting at 8 a.m. (GMT) on Sunday, December 25, 2022, also known as Christmas Day. The miniseries is only four episodes long, so it should be a quicker watch than an average season of the main show, which has eight chapters.
The show was shot between August and November 2021, followed by a lengthy post-production process to bring the gigantic monsters and spectacular action that franchise fans have grown accustomed to reality.
What is the Plot of The Witcher: Blood Origin?
This time period in world history may be familiar to anyone who has read the Witcher books or maybe played some of the video games. However, the main TV series hasn't delved too far into it yet, which means that this new miniseries might hold a wealth of information for the forthcoming third season and beyond.
So, with that in mind, let's dissect some of these major components. To begin, The Witcher: Blood Origin will focus on the once great and important elven society. As we already know from the main series, the elves are on their last legs as they strive to reconstruct the realm they once possessed.

They are currently seeking sanctuary and refuge in Cintra, another kingdom that is dealing with its own problems after being invaded and having its monarchs assassinated. Given how far the elves have fallen, the miniseries may depict a time when they were flourishing and the part they played in their own empire's demise.
Second, what exactly is a “Conjunction of the Spheres”? As we discovered in The Witcher 2's second season, there is a much bigger universe that can be explored, leading to realms where many of the creatures Geralt hunts originated.
So it appears that the miniseries will give us with a wealth of information regarding the Witcher multiverse. Furthermore, by referring to the ‘Conjunction,' we can learn about the first time all of these worlds were unexpectedly and chaotically thrown together.
Who is in the Cast of The Witcher: Blood Origin?
The Witcher: Blood Origin has a large cast of actors and actresses, just like the main series. They will bring many new characters to life. We already know that Joey Batey will play Jaskier again in the miniseries, but our main three actors will also be in it:
- Sophia Brown as Éile
- Michelle Yeoh as Scian
- Laurence O’Fuarain as Fjall
Minnie Driver will play Seanchai, Lenny Henry will play Chief Druid Balor, Mirren Mack will play Merwyn, Nathaniel Curtis will play Bran, Dylan Moran will play Uthrok One-Nut, and Jacob Collins-Levy will play Eredin, among many others.

How Does Blood Origin Connect to the Witcher?
The Witcher: Blood Origin is believed to have only minor connections to the main series, with the most prominent presumably being a cameo appearance by Jaskier (Joey Batey).
He stated to Entertainment Weekly that he shot scenes for the prequel series in just three days and so won't be a significant presence on the program, though he did mention filming stuff with the stunt squad, which is thrilling.

There is also potential for a more tangential relationship between the two programs, such as more investigation of Witcher traditions, some of which were explored in depth during the second season.
Based on early indications, it appears that Minnie Driver's Seanchai, who is billed as a time traveler, could appear in The Witcher season 3 when it is released on Netflix in 2023.
