He told Vulture he was influenced by the teste di Moro, ceramic heads unearthed in Sicily that come from mythology about a woman who severed the head of her married lover out of jealousy.
The season's focus on sex and violence in Italy likely stems from American interest in the macho mythos of Sicily as told through mafia legends.
White intriguingly describes this season as a “bedroom farce with teeth,” as jealousy plays a central role in the tense interactions amongst the White Lotus's volatile guests.

Who is Joining the Cast of the White Lotus for Season 2?
A fresh, equally star-studded cast will be introduced in Season 2. F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, and Adam DiMarco play Bert Di Grasso, Sr., Dominic De Grasso, and Elbie Di Grasso, Jr., three members of the same family on the road.
Also, Tom Hollander plays Quentin, an Englishman on holiday with his friends and nephew; Haley Lu Richardson portrays Portia, a young woman on the road with her boss; and Leo Woodall plays Jack, a guest at the White Lotus.
Cameron and Daphne Babcock, played by Theo James and Meghann Fahy, are a married couple on vacation with Ethan and Harper Spiller, played by Will Sharpe and Aubrey Plaza.
Who From the Original Cast of the White Lotus is Coming Back for Season Two?
One of the most beloved characters from the first season of The White Lotus is coming back! Jennifer Coolidge's Season 2 return was announced in February. According to Variety, she'll be returning as Tanya McQuoid, Lu Richardson's employer from the previous season.
The second season will take place in Sicily, and in July, HBO published a teaser trailer that included Jon Gries, who played Greg in the first season.
