In Outer Banks season 3, Charles Halford portrays the character of Big John. John B locates his father, Big John, who was presumed dead. The pair set off on a journey to discover El Dorado, the legendary city of gold.
Big John, John B.'s father, was presumed dead in earlier seasons of Outer Banks. After badly hurting him, Wade threw him overboard, and now he and the other survivors are searching for the merchant's riches.
Big John's survival is finally established at the end of Season 2. He needs his son, John B.'s, assistance, so he goes to Carla Limbrey for it. Carla accepts her own conditions, and in the third season, she finally sees her kid again.
Is Big John Still Alive?
Big John lives alone on an island after being cast off the ship by Wade. But just as he begins to fear for his life, the men sent by Carlos Singh to find him arrive on the island. They kidnap him and transport him to Barbados.
Singh found a piece of the signpost that pointed the way to the legendary city of gold when he was looking for El Dorado. This piece was called a “gnomon.”He needs Big John's assistance to get to El Dorado, but Big John and the other gnomon half escape.
He contacts Carla Limbrey, who is looking for a healing garment, the shroud that cures all maladies. In exchange for her cooperation, he offers to bring her the shroud, which was not discovered within the cross.
Carla agrees to the proposal, and Big John is currently under protection. He tells Carla that he didn't want to endanger John B.'s life, therefore he never contacted his son and told him he was alive.
When Big John brings John B and his friends to Barbados, he calls John B using the church bell, just as he did when John B was younger. John B. follows the noise to the church, where he finds his father waiting for him.
The Father Who Makes Mistakes
Big John brings John B to an antiques dealer's shop immediately after they are reunited; this is where Big John has hidden the gnomon he took from Singh. He holds the dealer who saved his life at gunpoint and demands the gnome in exchange. He then runs away with John B just before Singh arrives and leaves the dealer behind.
To John B's chagrin, Big John prevents him from telling his friends or Sarah about the hunt for El Dorado after they reach the Outer Banks, and John B is also forced to lie to Sarah about the hunt.
While attempting to locate El Dorado, John B observes his father breaking into people's homes to steal what he desires. Because of Big John's tricks, they often end up in dangerous situations from which they just barely get away.
The two smugglers who stole Denmark's diary from Mr. Sunn's residence are killed in front of John B. He then gives John B an excuse for his murders, explaining that he had to do it to avoid losing him again.
Similarly, Big John manages to fool Carla. He gives her a fake shroud and tells her it will cure all her maladies. He asks John B. to mug an old lady, one of several questionable choices that he makes.
A long time ago, John B thought his dad was great. When he and his father go in search of El Dorado, however, he witnesses his father's mental breakdown on the way to the treasure. John B. is disillusioned by the hunt since it has compromised his morals.

What was Big John's fascination with El Dorado?
As Sarah is Wade's daughter, Big John has extra reason to be wary of her. He is aware that John B's dishonesty is straining their relationship, yet he refuses to let him tell her the truth.
Big John is never polite, even when the three of them are just strolling to Solana. He cares more about satisfying his quest for treasure than the welfare of his kid and Sarah.
In front of Sarah, Big John refuses to reveal the final line of the translated directions for finding El Dorado to John B. Not only that, but Big John refuses to spill the beans even after Singh's men have threatened to kill him if they don't learn the truth.
The father that comes back from the dead is different from the father that lives in the memories of John B. This iteration of him is completely preoccupied with the prospect of locating the loot.
