An adorable rom-com like the Amazon Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty always makes our hearts swell to bursting.

Jenny Han, the author of To All The Boys, adapted her trilogy into the film The Summer I Turned Pretty, which follows Belly as she deals with a love triangle between her two oldest friends (who also happen to be brothers… complicated.)

It seems like she's settled on a man at the conclusion of the season, but with two more books to read, is she really ready to commit?

Is The Summer I Turned Pretty Getting a Season 2?

Yes! Those who enjoyed The Summer I Turned Pretty don't have to wonder if the teen drama will continue. The Summer I Turned Pretty has been renewed for a second season by streaming service Prime Video weeks before the first season's release, according to a report from Deadline. Showrunner and writer Jenny Han will be back for season 2 as she was for season 1.

 Since there are three volumes in The Summer I Turned Pretty but only two episodes in the first season, it's safe to assume that there will be a third season.

Season 2 is now in production, having kicked off in July 2022, and is expected to wrap up in the next months.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Release Date: When Will It Air?

Prime Video has not yet provided an official release date for season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Nonetheless, production has begun, so we shouldn't have to wait too long for its release.

We expect Prime Video to aim to broadcast Season 2 in the summer, as they did with Season 1, making June/July 2023 a potential premiere window.

Prime Video has not yet confirmed how many episodes have been ordered for season 2, but it seems likely that there will be the same number as season 1, which is seven brand new episodes.

Who is the Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2's Cast?

Lola Tung, a novice to the industry, stars as 16-year-old Belly Conklin in The Summer I Turned Pretty. Belly is painfully adjusting to leaving her awkward stage.

Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno play Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher, the other members of the love triangle at the show's center.

Belly's older brother Steven is played by Manifest's Sean Kaufman, while Belly's mom Laurel is portrayed by Jackie Chung, and the “glue” that keeps Conrad and Jeremiah's families together is portrayed by Rachel Blanchard as Susannah Fisher.

Tom Everett Scott as Adam Fisher, Alfredo Narciso as Cleveland Castillo, Colin Ferguson as John Conklin, and Minnie Mills as Shayla is also part of the first season's cast.

Actors Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher were introduced as fresh additions to the Season 2 cast on August 31. Both Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Edge of Seventeen) and Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade, 2018) are well-known actresses at this point.

Although Elsie and Kyra have been cast in recurring roles, little is known about their characters at this time. We will most certainly continue to follow developments with interest.

What's the Storyline of Season 2 of the Summer I Turned Pretty?

Since the series is based on Jenny Han's book trilogy, we have access to the original material well before the second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty becomes available on the Prime Video service.

Adapted on the first novel, Season 1 centers on Belly, a 16-year-old, and her family as they spend the summer in Cousins Beach. Also included are Belly's mother, father, older brother Steven, and mom's best friend from childhood, Susannah, and Susannah's sons, Conrad and Jeremiah.

Last season ended on a huge cliffhanger when Belly and Conrad kissed on the beach. as Belly is officially dating Jere (who has no idea what's going on).

Season 2 will likely continue from where season 1 left off, adapting the novel's plot with some fresh twists. An overview of the second novel, titled It's Not Summer Without You, reads as follows:

Belly used to eagerly await summer so she could visit Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. Unfortunately, it won't be the case this calendar year. No longer after Susannah fell ill once again and Conrad lost interest.

The disintegration of all that was good and right has left Belly wishing that summer would never arrive. When Jeremiah calls to report that Conrad has vanished, Belly knows just what she needs to do to put things right.
