A warrior and his family flee a government facility that has been infected with an antigen strain intended for use as a biological weapon. Over 99 percent of the population of the United States dies as a result of this epidemic. Following the first epidemic, a small group of survivors begins to discover each other and form a group. They’ve all had nightmares about a terrifying dark guy and a kind elderly black woman who urges them to come to find her in Nebraska.
Abagail is the name of an elderly woman, and she believes God has given her a purpose to gather all of the survivors in Boulder, Colorado, in preparation for a showdown with the dark man. A wicked monster known as Randall Flagg is forming his own army across the Rockies in Las Vegas. Flagg aims to wipe off everybody who stands in his way and take over all the world.
Abagail sends four men from the Boulder Free Zone colony on a mission to face Flagg in Las Vegas. They will probably perish as a consequence, but they all believe in Abagail’s vision and the need of standing up to Flagg. Even though three of the four men perish, their determination to fight the powers of darkness is rewarded with the expulsion of Flagg and the restoration of peace to human society.

Rumours say that The Stand was promoted on CBS as a limited series, implying that the network had no plans to expand the plot or carry it beyond the original book. As of this writing, there are no specific plans for a second season of The Stand. However, if the broadcaster decides to branch out for a sequel, we may have to wait for a few years to see these characters again.
