Annie Wersching star of the series ‘The Rookie' sadly passed away on 29 January 2023, at the age of 45 following a fight with cancer. She was privately diagnosed with the disease. Throughout her career this beloved actress appeared in iconic roles for shows such as The Rookie, Timeless, Star Trek: Picard, 24, and Bosch.

The cast of ‘The Rookie' paid emotional tribute to the late Annie Wersching to honor the legacy and her impact on the show. It was aired on February 14, 2023.

In a statement following her passing, Wersching's husband, Stephen Full, said “there is a vast void in this family today. In the most mundane situation, she discovered wonder. She could dance without any accompaniment. She showed us that adventure doesn't always find you. Go locate it. It's all over. And we'll locate it.” Together, they were parents of three kids. They welcomed their first child, a son named Freddie, on August 8, 2010. Their second child, a son named Ozzie, was born on August 4, 2013. Annie and Stephen welcomed their third and last son, Archie, on November 25, 2018.

Who did Annie Wersching play on The Rookie?

Annie Wersching played the role of Rosalind Dyer, the serial killer throughout the three seasons of The Rookie. Rosalind Dyer quickly becomes an adversary for the LAPD and particularly John Nolan, who is played by Nathan Fillon’s character.

Annie Wersching's final appearance in the show came in the fifth season’s fourth episode. The episode titled ‘The Choice’ sees Rosalind Dyer’s character killed off in a shocking moment. Her death was disappointing to the fans following the unforgettable impact that she had on the show.

Neil Druckmann, creator of “The Last of Us”, shared his condolences on Twitter, saying “We just lost a magnificent artist and human being. My heart is broken. Our thoughts are with her family”.

Actor Abigail Spencer, who co-starred with Wersching on the sci-fi series “Timeless”, tweeted, “We love you Annie Wersching, You'll be sorely missed”.

She also provided the voice and motion capture performance for Tess for the popular video game “The Last of Us.”

Wershing was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and continued working. She's survived by her husband, actor Stephen Full, and three sons. How brave an actress she was!
