“The Promised Neverland” had a promising start and was one of the most anticipated shows in its first season. After a successful premiere in Japan in January 2019, the first season was immediately renewed for a second season in March of the same year.
Until March 26, 2021, the second season was available on Netflix. That being said, the second season hasn’t quite lived up to its hype and expectations. Many anime fans were disappointed, but some still hope that ‘The Promised Neverland’ will return for a third season. Are there any chances of Season 3’s arrival? Let’s take a look and find out!
What is The Promised Neverland about?
The Promised Neverland follows the adventures of three main characters, Emma, Norman, and Ray, as well as a group of orphans who live together. Their lives have been filled with happiness, that is until the protagonists discover that the orphanage is actually a farm where children are raised and then given to demons to be eaten. The three devise a strategy to escape with the rest of the children after realizing that they only have a limited amount of time on their side.
Will there be a season 3 of The Promised Neverland?
Right now, the chances of The Promised Neverland Season 3 happening is incredibly slim. There may be more pressing matters at hand for the studio than just the negative feedback. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the manga’s entire plot has been wrapped up in the second season, though a bit hastily.
At the very least, there could have been another season of the show. However, the second season lacked in-depth. It was decided to use still images from previous arcs to conclude the story. A poor, shameless, and tragic attempt at wrapping up a promising anime. It’s safe to say that ‘The Promised Neverland’ merited better. Season 3 of ‘The Promised Neverland’ appears unlikely, so it doesn’t appear that the anime can be saved. Spinoffs and reboots, rather than a third season, are more likely to be developed.

What is the plot of The Promised Neverland?
In Grace Field House, an orphanage that is self-contained and houses Emma and 37 other orphans, the bright and cheerful Emma is 11 years old and lives with her family. They have an idyllic life, with plenty of food, comfortable beds, clean clothes, games, and the love of their “Mom,” Isabella. They have a happy childhood. Their education is regarded as a critical component of their development, and Emma, along with her two best friends, Norman and Ray, consistently perform admirably in the regular exams. There is no restriction on the orphans’ freedom, with the exception of venturing beyond the perimeter wall or gate that separates their home from the outside world.
The story is a dark thriller with many twists and turns…
Conny, a young girl, is sent away to be “adopted” one night, but Emma and Norman are there to welcome her back with her favorite stuffed animal toy. They discover Conny’s body at the orphanage’s gate and learn the truth about their existence in this idyllic orphanage – they were there to be raised as demon meat. In order to get away from Grace Field House and save the children, Emma and Norman team up with Ray, but Norman is taken away to be “adopted.” When Emma and Ray are forced to flee with some of their older siblings, they decide to leave half of the younger children behind as well.
While the fugitives discover that life outside Grace Field House is fraught with peril, they are inspired by Emma and Ray to return and free their remaining siblings, as well as children from the other Farms, from their captivity. They come across demons of all shapes and sizes, including Mujika and Sonju, who are willing to assist them in their quest. In the following chapter, Emma and Ray reunite with Norman and, with the help of their allies, fight a liberation battle against the demon queen Legravalima and the human Peter Ratri, who is in charge of the Farms. Emma eventually secures the freedom of all the children and re-forges “The Promise,” bringing them all back to the human world, but only at the expense of her own memory and that of the other children.

Season 3 has yet to be confirmed by CloverWorks. Hopes are high among anime fans that the show will be resurrected. There is virtually no chance that Season 3 will happen at some point in the future. 144 chapters (15 volumes) of the manga have been condensed into 11 Season 2 episodes, which is why it’s so short.
Season 2 may or may not be the final season, according to the show’s creators. The possibility of a spin-off storyline, or even a reboot in the future, cannot be ruled out.
Many of the literary gimmicks that plagued Season 2 may be absent from Season 3. An already unpleasant situation is made worse by the good people showing up at the right time, by the unexpected influx of new information, and by the likelihood that a messed-up scenario will turn out okay. This should be remedied soon by both CloverWorks and the Director.
We’ll let you know if any details emerge right away! Thanks for reading and do check out other anime news we cover in the meantime.
