Gollum, a Lord of the Rings video game being developed by Daedalic Entertainment, who you may recognize as the creators of the Deponia point-and-click adventure game series, has been in active development for a considerable amount of time.
It's been a long time coming, but the German developer has been hard at work over the past few years shaping The Lord of The Rings: Gollum into what could be the next big hit for Tolkien's Middle-Earth universe – which has a surprising track record when it comes to video games.
The release of Lord of the Rings Gollum, which was originally scheduled for 2021, has been postponed until 2022. The game will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2022. Despite the fact that we haven't received a firm release date, we're hopeful that it will be announced during the slew of gaming events coming up in the next few months, including E3 2021. Until then, however, we've compiled all of the information we've gathered so far on The Lord of the Rings: Gollum into one place.

The Lord of the Rings Gollum release date
It was originally planned for release in late 2021, but in January 2021, developer Daedalic Entertainment announced that the game would be delayed until 2022, with no further specific release date being provided beyond that.
Along with the delay announcement, Daedalic Entertainment confirmed that it will be partnering with Nacon to publish the game, with the companies stating that they are joining forces “to ensure that the game meets the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings and fully leverages the power of the new generation” of consoles in a joint press release (via Polygon) that the game will “meet the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings.”

The Lord of the Rings Gollum trailer
In conjunction with The Game Awards 2021, a new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was unveiled. During the short cinematic trailer, Smeagol battles against his split personalities, while Gollum attempts to commit villainous acts in order to protect his precious ring from being destroyed.
The game's most recent trailer was unveiled at the Future Games Show in March 2021, and it looks fantastic. It helps to set the tone for the adventure by showing more of Mordor, as well as a glimpse of what it will be like to play as Gollum in the game's gameplay.
