The Little Mermaid: The Plot
The plot is anticipated to largely adhere to the original's basic structure, with some additional adjustments made for a more contemporary audience, as with Disney's numerous past live-action remakes.
Despite her father, King Triton, admonishing her that interaction with humans is forbidden, the mermaid princess Ariel is attracted by human life in the original 1989 movie (spoiler alert). During a visit to the surface, she develops feelings for Prince Eric and strikes a deal with Ursula, the sea witch, to briefly transform into a human.
When Ariel successfully captures Prince Eric's affection, Ursula attempts to murder Ariel, but Prince Eric kills her first. Ariel and Triton get married and decide to live their entire lives as humans.
Even if we don't know much about how the new movie will approach the story, we may reasonably anticipate that it will fit that description. According to the official synopsis, a young mermaid strikes a deal with a sea witch to exchange her lovely voice for human legs so she can explore the world above water. With this, we can be confident that the main plots are, at the very least, the same.
We are aware of several adjustments that will be made in the remake. Perla and Karina, two new characters, will be introduced first. Although we do not yet know how they will contribute to the plot, given that their characters were revealed beforehand, they will likely have a big part.
Additionally, Scuttle, the seagull's gender, has been altered from male to female, presumably to increase representation, given that Sebastian and Flounder, Ariel's other friends, are both men.
