On September 10th, a new trailer for the film was uploaded on YouTube, featuring a mermaid version of Bailey.
Sadly, but not unexpectedly, the video was disliked by almost 2 million people. Many of these people were likely racists who hold the false belief that fictional creatures cannot be Black.
The film is a live-action adaptation of the animated version from 1989, joining the ranks of other Disney classics such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Mulan.
What is the Plot of the Little Mermaid?
Ariel, the daughter of King Triton, is a mermaid who bargains her voice for the chance to become human and walk on land.
After rescuing Prince Eric from a shipwreck, Ariel fell in love with him and now wants to win him over.
At some point during her journey, Ariel comes into conflict with her father and learns that the pact she made with the witches was a terrible trap that could end her life.
Ariel's friends Sebastian the crab and Flounder the tropical fish help her on her journey to find her voice and speak to her prince.
