Serial killers like Ted Bundy, Ed Kemper, and the Long Island serial killer have been the subject of Netflix documentaries, TV shows, and movies for a long time. Now, the famous American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer will be the focus of a new show from Ryan Murphy.
DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which Murphy and Ian Brennan made, will tell the story of Dahmer's life and crimes through the eyes of the people he hurt.
Evan Peters (X-Men, American Horror Story) was chosen for the part in March 2021, right after unexpectedly appearing on the Marvel show WandaVision. Peters has worked with Murphy on many projects in the past, including American Horror Story and the show Pose.
He had previously talked about his casting and his research for the role. He told Variety, “I've read so much, I've watched so much, I've seen so much, and at some point, you have to say, ‘All right, that's enough.'”
“There are scripts that are very well written. You can tell all the backstory you want, but at the end of the day, we're not making a documentary.” He said, “It's more about keeping the idea and the thread of why you're telling the story and using that as your compass.”

Several other cast members have also been announced, like Niecy Nash, who will play Dahmer's real-life neighbor Glenda Cleveland, who called the police on him. Here is everything you need to know about DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
The Story Behind Dahmer: Monster: the Jeffrey Dahmer Story
The show is about the life of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who killed 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991 when he was finally caught. The limited series will focus on the victim and examine how ineffective the police were at seeing Dahmer.
One of the most famous examples is when Konerak Sinthasomphone, then 14, escaped Dahmer's apartment and was found bleeding and high by a group of women who called 911.
But when the police showed up, Dahmer told them it was a fight between two adults who were in love and that Sinthasomphone was drunk. They took Sinthasomphone back to Dahmer's apartment, where he was killed.

The official Netflix release for the show says, “DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is a series that exposes these unconscionable crimes.
It focuses on the underserved victims and their communities and how systemic racism and institutional failures of the police allowed one of America's most notorious serial killers to continue his killing spree in plain sight for over a decade.”
