The Interest of Love Season 1 Episode 14 Recap
In the opening scene of episode 14 of The Interest of Love, Su-yeong is seen drying off after an emotional outburst in the rain. After shielding her head with an umbrella for some time, Sang-su joined her. They discuss the precipitation & whether or not snow is preferred.
She doubts their compatibility & Sang-su reassures her that they can weather any storm. She appears to be satisfied with the response, as she immediately shifts the conversation to the torrential downpour outside. The guys unload the truck the next day & pull out the calendars. Calendars must be rolled up once more as the year comes to a close, and Sang-unyielding su's lack of warmth for Gyeong-pil persists.
Gyeong-pil laughs off the embarrassment, but the others aren't so easily dismissed. In the course of the meeting, Mi-gyeong volunteers to fill in at the subbranch while Su-yeong is away. As she's driving to the subbranch, she stops to pick up Gyeong-pil & the two have a rather uncomfortable vehicle trip together. At the workplace, Mi-gyeong runs into her cousin & recalls that the two of them have met before.
After talking to Gyeong-pil & finding out the truth about what led to her breakup with her first boyfriend, Mi-gyeong views him through kinder eyes. A little later, Sang-su offers his congratulations & she responds by inviting him out to dinner to celebrate that weekend. Before she opens the new location, however, she has dinner with Min-hee, who gives her sound counsel on how not to behave. In essence, she cautions her against doing so, sacrificing her own comfort to keep others warm; it's not worth it.

Su-yeong expresses her gratitude to Min-hee by revealing that she was able to go through challenging moments with the help of her friend. Mi-gyeong unexpectedly enters the scene at this point, having decided to show up because it's possible that this will be the final time they ever see one other. Meanwhile, Su-yeong expresses his gratitude & offers his apologies. A while later, Su-yeong learns that her parents have also decided to return home, having realized that Seoul isn't for them.

Mi-gyeong rushes over to assist her seonbae as soon as she hears her father requesting him to introduce his mother & begin the wedding talk. She firmly informs her father that she & her future husband will not be eloping any time soon. Behind closed doors, she pulls out the coin they flipped on their first date and explains how, if heads, they'll break up and, if tails, they'll get married in a year.
After their disastrous first date, Sang-su and Su-yeong decide to meet up again at a restaurant and have a fantastic time. This time, nobody is second-guessing themselves, and the discussion flows easily. The next day, everyone in the office is in a tizzy since they found out that Su-yeong had quietly resigned. She has vanished from that location as well, leaving Sang-su with nothing to do but regret her absence.

The focus of this episode is on Mi-gyeong's growth as a character. She reverts to her usual generous nature. Aside from attending Su-party, yeong's she also confronts her father on Sang-behalf, su's despite having every reason not to.
The writers have been dropping hints left and right that Sang-su is the ideal partner for Su-yeong, as opposed to Mr. Jeong. For example, when Su-yeong emptied her favorite spot to make room for Mr. Jeong, Sang-su seeks to refill the same spot with new additions.

Ms. Seo's participation in this episode as a catalyst for change in Su-yeong's perspective and outlook on life was a pleasant surprise. Though the writers intended for the restaurant where Sang-su and Su-yeong have their long-awaited date to serve as a symbol of the couple's narrative coming full circle, the effect is diminished by Su-yeong's inconsistent and irritating behavior. For the same reason, the conclusion is not shocking.
