The Gifted Season 3: Release Date | Confirmation Updates on Renewal or Cancellation!

The action-packed drama “Gifted” was first shown in October 2017 thanks to a partnership between Marvel Television and Fox Television. As a spin-off of X-Men, Gifted is an American superhero show that dramatizes science fiction in the best way possible. It takes place in a different reality.

Summary of The Gifted

Season 1 starts with a bang, with a line-up of 13 episodes that aren't all a crossover of the X-Men series but rather a show that takes place in an alternate timeline and is about racism and sexism.

People say 9/11 was a terrible event that stopped the X-Men and caused them to disappear. The large-scale social changes made the weaker species angry, while the mutants got all the blame.

The series tries to figure out what happened to the missing X-Men, the main plot point. The show starts by following the everyday lives of the Strucker family, who have just found out something scary about their kids and are now on the run.

The government turns against the family because the children have mutant powers, while the family tries to stay alive by making friends with the underground network of mutants. In season 2, there is a time jump of six months.

In the beginning, we find out what happened after the explosion at Atlanta Station. The second season looks at what happened after the first season and how the Hellfire Club and the Underground Mutants got closer. The new group of mutants is called the Morlocks.

The Gifted: Will It Continue or End?

Fox decided to end the show on April 17, 2019, after it had been on for two years. The Gifted, a drama/comedy on Fox in its second season, will not be given a third season. The show did not do very well in Fox's regular ratings during its second season, which ended in February.

According to screenrant, critics liked the show, and the second season got an even higher rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But, according to Deadline, The Gifted's second season averaged a 1.1 rating among adults 18–49 in Live+7, which was down from Season 1's 2.0 rating and 3.3 million viewers.

Most X-Men fans have figured out this is all related to Disney's purchase of Fox. Fox doesn't own the show anymore. Now, linear ratings are a big part of how the broadcast network decides whether or not to keep it on the air.

These fans are right, but not in the way they think. The truth is told in a much more indirect way. Fox Broadcasting is not included in the deal between Disney and Fox. Since the company already owns a broadcasting network, it could not buy another one.

In an interview with SlashFilm in February, the showrunner, Matt Nix, said, “I think the most likely thing is that if we come back, we'll come back in some creative way. Some partnership, because I think we've found that people who like The Gifted like it a lot.

I don't think there will be 22 episodes on TV, but I'd love to be wrong. We have a strong group of fans, but it's not big enough for the big broadcast networks. But we do well with streaming, so I hope there's something we can do in that area.

Why Was the Gifted Canceled?

20th Century Fox had the right to make movies based on the X-Men characters from Marvel Comics from the late 1990s until 2019. Fox tried out the idea with a TV movie called Generation X in 1996. With X-Men in 2000, the movie series was finally off and running.

Fox then made several X-Men movies, many of which were huge hits at the box office. Going forward, the plan was to add more to the X-Men universe by making TV shows like The Gifted that were related to the movies.

But Disney bought Fox in 2019. This purchase came with a huge number of titles from the past, including all of the X-Men movies. Since Disney already had the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it didn't want to keep the X-Men series going.

The Gifted was one of the movies that had to be cut from the X-Men series so quickly. The Gifted was supposed to be a side series for Fox's X-Men movies, but without the movies, there was no reason to keep making this TV show. So, it was decided to end Fox's run of X-Men movies so that the characters could be (re)introduced into the MCU at some point.

In April 2019, it was announced that The Gifted would no longer be made. Even though the door was left open for more episodes, it didn't happen because Disney no longer needed the show.

The Gifted Age Rating

The Gifted has a TV-14 rating, meaning it has some content many parents would not want their kids under 14 to see. Parents are strongly encouraged to keep a closer eye on this show and told not to let kids under 14 watch alone.

This show may have intensely suggestive dialogue, strong coarse language, intensely sexual situations, or intensely violent scenes.
