Have you ever been grabbed by sheer horror? Do you also have Kinemartiphobia ( fear of zombies)? Not anymore because the Jim Jarmusch directed masterpiece ‘The Dead Don’t Die‘ is setting the world on fire. With zombies roaming on the street, causing havoc in the city and the lives of people at stake, the film still manages to crack punches of laughter through the bloodshed.
The Plot of The Dead Don’t Die
The movie starts with a hilarious incident of police filing a report about a missing chicken of the town Centerville. Little did they know that havoc being brought to the town had started its course. With radio reporting for polar fracking and cell phones stopped working, tension has built up.
Police officers Cliff Robertson and Ronnie Peterson get suspicious of something fishy cooking up in the town as they discover two dead bodies killed in a gruesome manner.
The rotation of the earth has been altered, causing the dead to walk on the street straight from their corpses.
First the lost chicken and now a lost cat, farmer Miller again dial-up to police about this strange disappearance of animals. Ronnie and Cliff pack their bags and equip them with all that’s needed to set to their mission of rooting zombies out of the town. Some in town are saving themselves, like Zelda Winston guarding herself with her excellent swordsmanship as she beheads two corpses emerging from their funeral.
She is then made to handle communication at the police station while the cops take charge of mutilating the slimy dead zombies. When at the motel, Ronnie beheads three bodies and takes into his possession a Sturgill Simpson CD. Ronnie begins playing the Sturgill Simpson CD on the police car sound system, but Cliff tosses the CD out of the car window.
Hank and Bobby fight zombies across the city at various locations. The comic relief in the movie steps in here as each zombie is portrayed in a way that it can say only one word, something related to when he was alive, or an article it can see as a zombie. The zombies ruthlessly maul all who stand in their way, and Farmer Miller was no exception.
With the dead alive, Mindy is overwhelmed by seeing her dead grandmother walking towards her. But it is hard to accept death as she walks toward her only to be eaten up.
Ronnie and Cliff manage to crack a joke with zombies surrounding their car up to the brim as Ronnie blurted out that they are going to die as Jim gave them the entire script ahead of time while Cliff received only pages of a few scenes.
Zelda got the fortune to behead one last zombie as she makes her way through the cemetery. Wait, there is also a UFO; the town is going crazy with Cliff and Ronnie determined to kill every last one of them, including Bobby, farmer Miller, Hank and Mindy.
