In the fifth season of the series, we will be introduced to the Code family, who is associated with the underworld activities and with time, it became their day-to-day life.
In the fifth season, the characters are still dealing with the fallout from the events which surrounds Smurf's death, including family members who were out for revenge. With the kingdom without a leader, the Codys struggled to maintain their destroyed alliance and were trying to observe who would come at the top.
In the meantime, they look for additional information about Pamela Johnson, the beneficiary of Smurf's inheritance. In 1984, a volatile 29-year-old Smurf was creating her own path, raising Pope and Julia and taking on risky occupations with new and old pals.”

Production of The Animal Kingdom Season 5
In May 2015, TNT ordered the Animal Kingdom pilot. In July 2015, Barkin and Speedman were announced as the matriarch Smurf and her adopted son Baz, respectively. Cole and Weary were cast as J and Deran in August, with Hatosy and Robson cast as the other Cody brothers Pope and Craig shortly after. Later, Alonso was shown to be Baz's wife, Catherine, while Molly Gordon was revealed to be J's girlfriend Nicky.
In December 2015, the project was ordered to series with a 10-episode order. The programme premiered on June 14, 2016, and TNT renewed it for a 13-episode second season on July 6, 2016. TNT confirmed on July 27 that Animal Kingdom, which aired on May 29, 2018, will be renewed for a third season.
The season 3 debut broadcast following a TNT game that started at 12:30/11:30 central the day before. TNT renewed the sitcom for a fourth season on July 2, 2018. On January 10, 2019, production on the fourth season began. On May 28, 2019, the fourth season premiered. TNT renewed the sitcom for a fifth season on July 24, 2019.

With a review of 26000 viewers, the IMDb rated the series with a score of 8.2 out of 10. It was one of the sensational TV series of the 2016-20 session in television that many people liked.
Release Date
Animal Kingdom Season 5 finished filming on December 11, 2020. Shawn Hatosy announced the completion of his filming on Instagram on December 12, 2020. Some of the episodes were shot prior to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent global lockdown.
