It's understandable that fans of the XCOM Long War mods would be disappointed to learn that the impending strategy game Terra Invicta has been postponed, but that is regrettably what has happened.
According to the game's creator, Pavonis Interactive, the delay will allow the team to further balance and polish the game.
Why Terra Invicta Got Delayed?
Terra Invicta, according to Pavonis, is “feature complete” although it will require a little more time to cook than usual. Terra Invicta will be delayed in order to give the development team more time to polish and balance the “huge number of mechanics” that will be available.
As a result, it's probable that Terra Invicta would receive a great deal of negative feedback if it launched in a clearly unbalanced form. As a result, the delay makes logical, albeit it may come as a disappointment to those of you who were looking forward to playing it this year.
The developers, on the other hand, have released a new Terra Invicta trailer to keep you entertained until the game debuts. It demonstrates some of the game's new features, such as enormous alien megafauna, new ship designs, and other elements, among other things. Take a look at the video below.
Pavonis does not expressly name the pandemic as a factor in Terra Invicta's postponement; rather, it has been a difficult year or two for the game's producers. It seems likely that Terra Invicta was in some kind of development prior to the commencement of the campaign, although the pandemic has almost probably had an impact on the game's development cycle.
Some other Kickstarter projects, such as Suikoden spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicle, which was delayed earlier this year in order to “reach greater ambitions” could be in a similar scenario. Let's hope that it, as well as Terra Invicta, can achieve its full potential.
When is the new Terra Invicta release date?
Unfortunately, you may have to wait a little longer in order to get your hands on this one as well. Although no official release date for Terra Invicta has been confirmed as of yet, Pavonis has set a preliminary release timeframe for the game in the second quarter of 2022. As a result, we may expect the game to be released anytime in the spring of next year, or possibly as early as the summer.
Although it will be a long wait, Pavonis and Hooded Horse are sure that the extra time will allow them to perfect the game. Given that Terra Invicta has reached feature completion, let's hope that no further major delays are reported in the near future.
Terra Invicta is a grand strategy game developed by the team behind the XCOM and XCOM 2 Long War mods for the popular video games. It's a space simulation in which you'll be able to colonize the solar system as one of seven different factions, each with its own set of goals.
If you enjoyed the astropolitical maneuvering of Stellaris, you'll probably enjoy this one as well. We're hopeful that Pavonis can bring its experience to bear on Terra Invicta, as the company's XCOM mod Long War is widely regarded as one of the best available. We'll update you as soon as we have more information.
