Taylor Swift sings “I want your midnights” on “New Year's Day” from her 2017 album Reputation. In 2022, this song's lyrics have a new meaning for her fans.
They want her Midnights, the name of her 10th studio album, which was announced at the 2022 Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 28.
While accepting the coveted Video of the Year Moon Person for her 10-minute “All Too Well,” a short film starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien, the 32-year-old pop star thanked her fans by dropping a bombshell that she knew would make them very, very happy.
“I decided that if you were going to be so kind and give us this…” she started, holding up the award. The pop star said her “brand new album” was on its way.
This meant it wasn't a re-recording of one of her older songs, as many fans had hoped for months. She added, “And I'll tell you more at midnight.”
Swift kept her promise. She wore a starry blue jumpsuit to a VMAs afterparty, and as soon as the clock struck midnight on the East Coast, she posted the album's title, cover art, and many tracks on social media.
She also changed her website to fit her soon-to-be-new era, but it crashed almost immediately, probably because so many Swifties were trying to get on it to find out more.
Even though Taylor Swift's Midnights won't be out for a few more months, just enough information has been released to keep fans happy until then. Read on to find out what Billboard knows about Midnights so far:

It Could Make History
If Midnights debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — since she already has 10 No. 1 albums — she will tie Barbra Streisand for the most No. 1 albums by a female artist.
Midnights would be Swift's 11th No. 1 album, tying her for third place with Streisand, Bruce Springsteen, and Drake for the most No. 1s since the chart's inception in 1956. Only The Beatles (19 No. 1 albums) and Jay-Z (14) have more than 11 No. 1 albums.
