In the movie “Bhoomi Geetha,” which came out in 1997, she sang the song “Kesari Haravu” for the first time. She also sang songs for Tamil movies and made her debut with the theme “Unakkoruthi” from the movie “Punniyavathi” that same year.

Sunitha Upadrashta caused a stir when she called out Swamy Swaroopanandendra Saraswati of Sharad Peetham on her social media accounts for putting her name on a list of his disciples without her permission.

She did this in response to Swamy Swaroopanandendra Saraswati's claim that many famous people visited him when he stayed at the Filmnagar Temple in Hyderabad. He also added a list of the names of his followers. On that list, he put Sunitha Upadrashta's name, which made the singer angry.
