Broderick Stephen Harvey, Sr. (born January 17, 1957) is a television host, actor, writer, producer, and comedian from the United States. He hosts The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Family Feud, Celebrity Family Feud, the Miss Universe competition, Family Feud Africa, and the court comedy Judge Steve Harvey.
Harvey started as a comedian. In the early 1980s, he did stand-up comedy and hosted Showtime at the Apollo and The Steve Harvey Show on The WB. After appearing on the Kings of Comedy Tour, he was later featured in The Original Kings of Comedy. His last stand-up performance was in 2012.
Harvey has been the host of both Family Feud and Celebrity Family Feud since 2010. He also served as the host of Little Big Shots, Little Big Shots Forever Young, and Steve Harvey’s Funderdome. He is the author of four books, including the best-selling Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, which was released in March 2009.

Broderick Stephen Harvey was born in Welch, West Virginia, on January 17, 1957. He attended Kent State University before transferring to West Virginia University. His family eventually relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended Glenville High School and graduated in 1974.
He has worked as a boxer, autoworker, insurance salesman, carpet cleaner, and mailman and had his comedic debut on October 8, 1985, at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland, Ohio. Harvey, no stranger to adversity, was homeless for three years in the late 1980s, sleeping in his 1976 Ford when the gigs he performed at did not provide a motel.
Harvey secured a slot as the host of the TV show “It’s Showtime at the Apollo” after being a finalist in the Second Annual Johnnie Walker National Comedy Search in 1990. He continued to perform stand-up comedy, joining Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley, and Bernie Mac on the 1997 Kings of Comedy tour.
