Season 2 of comedian Rose Matafeo's millennial fairytale has been announced. The smash rom-com from award-winning comic Rose Matafeo Season 2 of Starstruck will premiere shortly, and we're anticipating great things given the previous season's critical acclaim.
Season 1 of Starstruck was seen nearly 5 million times on BBC iPlayer, making it the channel's most popular new comedy of 2021.
The millennial rom-com centers on Jessie (Matafeo), who falls in love with a renowned movie actor (Nikesh Patel) after a one-night fling on New Year's Eve while working different dead-end jobs in East London.
Matafeo, who co-writes the series with Alice Snedden and – for season 2 – Nic Sampson, joked last year after the show was renewed for a second season: “Thrilled that Starstruck will be returning to BBC Three for a second series because I left my water bottle on set last year and I would love to get it back.”
“The first series of Starstruck came as a wonderful breath of fresh air,” said Shane Allen, Director of Comedy at the BBC. “We can't wait to see what Rose, Alice, and Nic have in store for Jessie and Tom in the next chapter of their journey.”
Fans can now get a first peek at Jessie and Tom in the new episodes thanks to first-look photographs from season 2, which can be seen below, with tension evident as they brush their teeth together.
Season 2 of Starstruck will premiere on a revamped BBC Three channel in the United Kingdom and HBO Max in the United States. Everything you need to know about the upcoming season is right here.
