The intriguing teaser for the upcoming film Smile, which Paramount Player will distribute, features several frightening and creepy smiles. It piques viewers' interest with its enticing yet cryptic idea.
The first question posed in the teaser was, “What makes you smile?” However, shortly after that, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) was shown in a scene that appeared to be unsettling. The preview, which formerly went by the working title Something's Wrong With Rose, depicts Rose moving across the hospital room, where she comes into contact with a man who is strangely smiling widely.
After Rose witnessed a harrowing experience involving a patient, she began to have unsettling encounters with potentially dangerous people and things. For Rose to stay alive and find a way out of her “horrifying new reality,” she must confront her troubled history while an overwhelming horror begins to take control of her existence.
The planned feature picture is an adaptation of the short film Laura Hasn't Slept, directed by Parker Finn and released in 2020. Upon its initial premiere, the short film was met with widespread critical praise and won a special jury recognition award at the SXSW Film Festival called the Midnight Award.
Finn not only wrote but also directed the full-length feature film, which tells the story of “a psychiatrist who is being tormented by what she believes to be something supernatural.” In the short film, Caitlin Stasey portrayed the titular character. However, in the feature picture, Bacon will assume the primary role, even though Stasey will still be a part of the cast.
