Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Release Date: Is It Competing With Avatar?

One of these will be Shazam: Fury of the Gods, the comic book titan's final movie of the year. Zachary Levi, who previously starred in Shazam!, will reprise his role as Billy Batson in this movie, directed by David F. Sandberg (aka Shazam).

When compared to the first Shazam! The movie Fury of the Gods appears to be raising the bar on almost every level.

There have even been rumors that more DC heroes may appear in the movie, and Hollywood legend Helen Mirren has joined the cast as the evil Hespera.

Shazam! 2 has had a relatively smooth road to release because it is one of the few upcoming DC movies that hasn't had its release date moved ahead (instead of being postponed) amid a recent run of pushes. Up until this point, when the movie was somewhat pushed back.

Shazam!: Fury of the Gods' release date has been moved from Friday, December 16, 2022, to Wednesday, December 21, according to Michigan Sports Zone.

As a result, James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of the Water, which will now be the only action blockbuster released on December 16, won't be directly competing with the DC sequel.

David F. Sandberg, the director of Fury of the Gods, mocked the decision in a tweet in response to this information by writing, “You're welcome, Cameron!”

Thankfully, Levi's wish was granted in the end. Levi's enthusiasm for the movie is admirable, even though every celebrity in a sequel claims it is superior to the original.

Especially considering how entertaining and unique the first movie was when it came out in 2019.

A much larger image that jumps between the natural world and the Realm of the Gods was hinted at in the brief behind-the-scenes sequel sizzle reel unveiled at the DC fandom last year.

Along with Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Adam Goldberg return as Billy Batson, Shazam's human counterpart, and Freddy, Billy's best buddy, respectively.

Also making a comeback is Djimon Honsou, who played the other Shazam who gave Billy his abilities in the original movie.

The daughters of Atlas, Hespera, and Kalypso, Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu, are this time's antagonists.

In addition, Rachel Zegler from West Side Story has joined the cast in an unspecified capacity; nevertheless, it is assumed that she would play Billy Batson's potential love interest in the picture.

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Director Teases Spoilers By Announcing New Creatures & More Action In DCEU Sequel

Director David F. Sandberg of Shazam! Fury of the Gods teases a larger, more action-packed sequel featuring a variety of fantastical creatures.

In Sandberg's debut Shazam! In the film, released in 2019, Asher Angel plays the young orphan Billy Batson as he learns about an adult superhero (Zachary Levi).

Billy battles and defeats the wicked Dr. Thaddeus Sivana and the Seven Deadly Sins in the film while assisting his foster brothers in obtaining their superpowers.

Shazam! received favorable reviews and had a respectable film office result, so WB and DC quickly decided to make a sequel.

The film's original release date was intended for 2023; however, recent schedule changes have moved the release date of Shazam 2 to December of the current year.

Sandberg has been promoting Shazam! since the beginning. As a more extensive follow-up to the original, Fury of the Gods features more action and fantasy graphics.

The filmmaker notes that some fantastic antagonists in the movie, like Kalypso and Hespera, portray Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren. The set pieces, which take place in new places like Athens and the Realm of Gods, are also extremely impressive.
