Early Life and Career Beginnings

A native of Franklin Square, New York, Sean Patrick Hannity was born on December 30, 1961. A county prison stenographer and correctional officer, Lillian, and his father, Hugh, were both employed by the family court.

He is the eldest of four brothers and sisters. In fact, all four of his grandparents emigrated from Ireland to the United States, making him of Irish descent. St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary in Uniondale, New York, was his high school.

In the following years, he attended New York University, UC Santa Barbara, and Adelphi University, all of which resulted in him failing to get a bachelor’s degree.

Hannity began his own painting company in 1982. He became a construction contractor in Santa Barbara, California, a few years later. KCSB-FM, UC Santa Barbara’s volunteer college station, offered him the opportunity to conduct his first talk radio show in 1989 during his time in California.

Due to controversy about the “contentious” manner in which LGBT rights were covered on his weekly show, it was discontinued after less than a year of broadcast After leaving KCSB, Hannity went on to broadcast an afternoon talk program on WVNN in Athens, Alabama. In 1992, he joined WGST in Atlanta.
