WWE Tough Enough season 6 winner and former wrestler Sara Lee has passed away. Upon reaching the age of 30, she was deemed an adult.
Terri Lee, Sara's mom, posted the devastating news on Facebook on that Thursday, saying, “Our dear Sara Weston has passed away, and it is with great sadness that we must let you know of her passing. All of us are in disbelief, and plans have not been finalized. Please give our family some space while we grieve. We could all use some prayers, but Cory and her kids especially need to use your support.”
Lee and his husband, fellow WWE wrestler Cory James Weston, who he wed in 2017.
Lee became well-known after she won the 2015 season of “Tough Enough” and was then signed to a one-year contract by WWE. She made eight appearances and took part in four matches for the NXT developmental division.
The official cause of death is unknown.
Bull James, a friend of the family and fellow wrestler, started a GoFundMe page on Thursday to help Lee's husband and kids financially as they grieve.
“Sara Lee, the winner of Tough Enough, passed away unexpectedly, and her passing has surprised and devastated us all. Cory, her loving husband, is left to pick up the pieces and raise their three children without the added burden of worrying about how to pay for a burial and other associated costs.” James contributed to the campaign, which raised more than $20k in just eight hours.
“Wrestlers have always been quick to rally around one another in times of crisis, and this is no exception. Cory and his kids will receive 100% of the proceeds.” They kept talking in the message. “The entire community, in advance, is appreciated. Sara, you were a good person; rest in peace.”
