Neil Gaiman's groundbreaking comic book has had a hard time getting to the big screen. Since the 1990s, many people have tried to make it into a movie. The author once said it was “the worst script” he had ever read, and now Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to star in it.
To put it another way, it was in the middle of being made. No longer. Netflix has managed to condense The Sandman's epic scale into the first season that lives up to the book's pop culture status. Could you read our review right here?

Is There Going to Be a Second Season of the Sandman?
When writing, Netflix hasn't given the go-ahead for Season 2 of The Sandman. David S. Goyer told Den of Geek, “In some ways, it's easier because we've introduced the audience to the basic ideas. We've shown that dreams can affect the real world.
“Now that those themes have been set up, the show can build on them. They are more like jazz in that you can plan changes. We can spread our wings a little more.”
In 2019, Gaiman also told the Radio Times, “There are three of us: the showrunner, Allan Heinberg, David Goyer, and me. We just finished writing the first episode and plotting and breaking down the first two seasons, so we'll see what happens next.”
In recent tweets, Gaiman didn't seem so sure about what would happen to The Sandman, though, because of how much a second season would cost. In response to a fan who asked why Season 2 hasn't been approved, he wrote, “Because Sandman is a costly show.

But the trouble is on the way somewhere else. Desire said they would “draw blood” in their next attempt to hurt Morpheus, so they and Despair will likely devise another evil plan.
At the end of the season, Lucifer also said he would do something that would make God very angry and bring Morpheus to his knees. There's also the question of whether or not Morpheus will come for Lyta's child, who was made while she was dreaming with her dead husband.
