How Was the Early Life of Robert Knepper?
Knepper was born in Fremont, Ohio, and grew up in Maumee, Ohio. His parents, a veterinarian named Pat Deck and a lawyer named Donald Knepper, raised him there. Because his mother worked as a props person at a community theater, he was interested in acting from a young age.
After he graduated from Maumee High School in 1977, Knepper went to Northwestern University. While he was there, he got parts in plays in Chicago. Knepper quit Northwestern when he was almost done with his degree. He moved to New York City and kept working in the theatre there.

Knepper never planned to work in film and TV, but he started with The Paper Chase and That's Life! in 1986. Knepper went on to play bigger parts in movies like Wild Thing, Young Guns II, When the Bough Breaks, and Everyone Says I Love You.
He was in shows like The Twilight Zone, Star Trek: The Next Generation, ER, and Law & Order. In 2005, Knepper got his best-known role as Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell on the TV show Prison Break. Before that, he had played a recurring role on the HBO show Carnivàle.
