Redfall: What We Know So Far

You could think of Redfall as a cross between Back 4 Blood multiplayer action and the powers and quirks of Deathloop, though it also appears to be a game that should be judged on its own merits. Redfall will be released on October 26th.

Redfall will see four players take on a variety of vampires in the seemingly tranquil town of Redfall, which serves as the game's setting.

Redfall

It will also be somewhat exclusive, as it will only be available on the Xbox One X, Xbox One S, and Windows PC, as well as Xbox Game Pass, on the first day of its release; sorry, PlayStation 5 fans.

Despite the fact that Redfall is set to be released in 2022, there isn't a lot of solid information available about the game. However, while we expect to receive plenty of new information in the coming months, for the time being, here is everything we know about Redfall at this time.

Redfall Release Date

Redfall will be released in the summer of 2022, according to the studio. The game is expected to be released sometime between June and September, assuming it does not encounter any development roadblocks that necesent a delay in the release date of the game.

Contrary to popular belief, the name Redfall has been widely known for some time as a result of a trademark dispute that occurred in 2019. However, it has since been revealed that Redfall is actually the title of Arkane's upcoming shooter, rather than the Elder Scrolls 6 game itself.

This would imply that the game is actually quite far along in its development cycle at this point. Hopefully, this indicates that Arkane is fairly confident in its ability to meet the summer 2022 release deadline.

Redfall Trailer

The release of Redfall was announced through a 5-minute cinematic teaser trailer. The video, which unfortunately contains no game footage, does an excellent job of setting the tone and introducing Redfall's snarky cast of characters, which is a welcome addition.

Redfall Gameplay

Our understanding of what it will be like to actually play Redfall has been greatly enhanced by the game's official website. Redfall is described as an “open-world co-op shooter” that is played from the first-person perspective. This description sounds strikingly similar to the Borderlands franchise, which has a similar tone to it.

Guns appear to play a significant role in the Redfall, and we anticipate that they will be your primary means of combating the oncoming vampire horde in this game. Each playable character will also have their own set of abilities, some of which will be capable of causing significant damage. These include supernatural abilities that can be used on both the offensive and defensive sides of the battlefield.

Redfall

“Single and multiplayer options will be seamlessly integrated,” according to the Redfall website, “allowing players to venture into the darkness alone or team up with three other friends for four-player cooperative play.”

This will come as a relief to anyone who is interested in playing through Redfall on their own, as it appears that Arkane has not forgotten about the single-player experience. Despite the fact that co-op appears to be a crucial component of the game, this may be one title in which you will actually want to team up with your friends.

In the game's description, the game world is described as “evolving” and as a setting that will “respond to your decisions and actions.” As a result, your actions and choices could have far-reaching consequences, potentially increasing the game's replayability significantly.

Redfall

Several new gameplay details have emerged as a result of a Reddit leak, which also includes a number of previously unseen screenshots from the game, including the loadout screen and something known as the “Loot Zoo” Furthermore, loot is divided into five rarity tiers, high-end weapons are level-gated, and an item shop will be available — all of this sounds like the makings of a looter-shooter to us.

There are a few other things to take note of in the leak, including weapon information, such as a beam rifle that shoots UV rays, the existence of six playable characters (we've only seen four so far), and the fact that the open world will be seamless, featuring numerous side missions to compete with the main quest.

While Arkane has confirmed that Redfall will be played from a first-person perspective, images from this leak suggest that a third-person perspective may also be an option. The possibility exists that these screenshots were taken in a development mode rather than during actual gameplay. In light of Arkane's first-person experience, it appears that Redfall will forego the inclusion of a third-person mode.

While the information contained within this leak is certainly intriguing, it is important to remember that it should be treated with caution. Even though the leak appears to be genuine, it could ultimately be a convincing fake or information and screenshots taken from an older version of the game that has since been reworked.

Which platforms will support the game?

In 2020, Microsoft will acquire ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks. Given that Arkane is one of Bethesda's studios, the developer is now also a part of the Microsoft family of companies.

However, while Arkane's next game, Deathloop, will be a limited-time PlayStation 5 exclusive (the exclusivity agreement was signed before Microsoft's acquisition of the company), Redfall will not be making its way to Sony's latest gaming console.

Redfall will be available exclusively on the Xbox One X, Xbox One S, and PC, according to Microsoft.
