Prey Release Date: The Predator franchise has been revived with at least one new picture every decade or so; but most fans would agree that the original 1987 film; starring everyone’s favorite Austrian Arnold Schwarzenegger; is by far the best.
The two Alien vs. Predator pictures were more comparable to cheap fan service than real filmmaking. Predator 2 and Predators were decent enough.
Not to add, both fans and critics regarded 2018’s The Predator as a misfire; with the picture’s jumbled plot making it appear like it was attempting to be a superhero film rather than a horror-action thriller like the original.
Regardless of quality; it appears reasonable to conclude that no subsequent picture has been able to match the tension and entertainment value of the original.
“Original” may be the buzzword that the series requires, and it appears that a breath of fresh air has arrived in the form of the smartly titled Prey.
The planned film is described as a prequel that takes place many years before the events of the first film and tells the narrative of the first Predator to visit Earth.
Though director Dan Trachtenberg requested that the project be kept under wraps; information about the film has slowly been making its way into the headlines; so here’s all we know about Prey.
Watch Prey Trailer
We only recently received our first glance inside Prey’s distinct world, and details are delightfully minute, much like the film’s present status as a whole, so don’t fret about huge spoilers.
In essence, the brief 40-second teaser depicts a young Native American lady escaping a forest before encountering a fellow Comanche who orders her to seek cover.
Before that unmistakable three-dotted reticle emerges on one of their heads, the two stare into the empty woods.
Following that, the trailer suggests a tense encounter between Naru and an unseen Yautja.
That concludes the discussion. A lovely and simple trailer that serves as a great tease for a much-needed tonal shift.
Where Is Prey Releasing?
The first hunt will take place on August 5, 2022, and will be the franchise’s first feature film to be released entirely on streaming.
Even though Disney has taken over the Predator franchise, the human skinning and skull removal are perhaps too much for Disney+.
When Is The Prey Release Date?
Prey will premiere on Friday, August 5, exclusively on Hulu in the United States.
As a Star Original on Disney Plus in the United Kingdom, and in most other territories, except Latin America, where it will be a Star Plus original film.
While Prey will not be released in theatres, it is similar to the type of summer blockbuster film that is released around that time, only this time you will be able to see it from the comfort of your own home.
The basic concept for all Predator films is pretty much fixed in stone: an alien predator intends to hunt humans for sport.
Prey is distinct in that it takes a step back in time. Prey’s official synopsis is as follows:
“Prey is set 300 years ago in the Comanche Nation and depicts the story of Naru, a strong and highly trained warrior.
She was raised in the shadow of some of the Great Plains’ most famed hunters; so when her camp is threatened, she sets out to protect her people.
The prey she chases and eventually encounters turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technologically advanced armament; resulting in a fierce and horrifying fight.”
Patrick Aison wrote the novel Prey.
