A new Predator picture is released every decade, but most fans feel that the original 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is by far the best. Two Alien vs. Predator flicks were more like cheap fan service than quality filmmaking.
Predator 2 and Predators were delicate. While the original Predator was regarded as one of the best horror-action films ever made, 2018's The Predator was seen as a misfire by both fans and reviewers due to the film's confusing premise.
The tension and entertainment value of the original film have not been replicated in any subsequent adaptations, regardless of their quality. For the series to breathe new life, it may be necessary to hear the term “original,” and it appears like the aptly named Prey will provide that breath of fresh air.

When it comes to Predator, there's a prequel, and then there's a sequel. The picture has been kept under wraps due to director Dan Trachtenberg's need for privacy, but little by little, information about Prey has been making its way into the media.

In May 2022, we received our first look at the strange world of Prey. Shortly after a young Native American lady is seen escaping through the jungle, she meets up with another Comanche and is forced to hide.
A fierce fight between Naru and an unseen Yautja is teased in the following teaser. Before the three-dot reticle appears on one of their heads, the two continue to stare into the woods. And with that, I bid you farewell.
During the summer of 2022, a full-length trailer for the film was published, which included a glimpse of the Predator.
What Is The Release Date Of The Movie Prey?
On August 5, 2022, the first hunt will begin officially, and it will also be the first time in the series' history that a feature film will be made available solely through streaming services.
Even though Disney is the new owner of the Predator property, it seems unlikely that the human skinning and skull removal will be included in the family-oriented streaming service that Disney+ will offer.
Therefore, Prey will move to Hulu, a streaming service geared primarily at adults and owned by Disney and Fox.
When is Prey Going to Be Shown in Theatres?
There are currently no plans to launch Prey in cinemas, so don't get your hopes up. Prey has been given the formal designation of being a “Hulu Original,” even though 20th Century Studios is the company that is producing the picture.
This indicates that the movie will be made available solely through the Hulu streaming service; a release in traditional movie theatres is now highly doubtful.
What Is The Plot of The Movie Prey?
In Prey, the Predator intellectual property is relocated to a whole other era, three hundred years in the past, which is a significant amount of time before the events of the first movie.
To be more explicit, the story is set in pre-colonial America. It follows a young Comanche hunter named Naru as she searches for the identity of a strange peril threatening her people.
Unbeknownst to Naru, the threat is an alien entity known as a Yautja that is both highly intelligent and technologically advanced. These beings are more often referred to as Predators by the general public.
These beings hunt the most deadly species in the galaxy for sport. This has also been verified as the first time the famous species has made planet Earth their hunting area by the film's producer, John Davis. This occurred about three millennia before one such Predator clashed with a misfit troop of soldiers in Central America.
Who Is in the Cast of Prey?
Amber Midthunder, most recognized for her work as Kerry Loudermilk in Legion, will be taking the helm as the primary character, Naru, in this new show. Dane DiLiegro, Stefany Mathias, Stormee Kipp, and Dakota Beavers are also a part of the cast, even if it appears to be relatively minor.
Fans may notice that most of the cast is of Native American descent, which was most likely a decision to bring as much authenticity to the setting as possible and accurately portray its Comanche characters.

The film's portrayal of the real-life culture won't be put to the actual test until it is finally released. Still, so far, all signs are pointing in the right direction. The movie will hopefully introduce beloved characters from a community that deserves significantly more representation in the film world.
It just so happens that Prey will be the first full-length movie available to watch with Comanche subtitles.
Who Is Making Prey?
After a conflict between 20th Century Fox's parent business, Walt Disney, and the creators of the first Predator picture, the studio formerly known as Fox is still behind Prey (and yes, the idea that Mickey Mouse now owns Predator will never stop being weird).
Dan Trachtenberg, well known for his work on the highly acclaimed thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane, is the film's director. Prey, Trachtenberg's first feature picture in six years, is a surprise sequel to the surprise blockbuster that placed him on the map as a filmmaker to keep an eye on.
According to Trachtenberg, he was “depressed that what we had in mind for how you may discover this movie will no longer happen” when the premise of the film was revealed.

While it's unfortunate that the surprise had to be ruined, the director's involvement is reason enough to be intrigued. This is undoubtedly a unique marketing effort like the one for 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Patrick Aison, a screenwriter, best known for Wayward Pines and Jack Ryan, joins the cast as an uncredited co-writer. Marc Toberoff and John Davis (The Predator) sit on the council of producers, together with Marty P. Ewing and John Fox (Game Night) and Lawrence Gordon and Jhane Myers (Monsters of God) (Fantasy Island).
Editor Claudia Costello (Creed) and production designer Kara Lindstrom (10 Cloverfield Lane) round out the strong cast (Den of Thieves).
